Vote NOW for Geneva-Batavia in USA Today's Poll of Best Rivalries in Illinois!

Geneva-Batavia is among the top five of the USA Today Top Illinois High School Rivalry vote off!

Geneva and Batavia fans aren't going to agree on most high school sports polls, but there's a proposition on USA Today right now that should receive enthusiastic and unanimous support: that these two teams represent the top rivalry in the state of Illinois.

"This rivalry has been going strong for more than 100 years, starting in 1913," USA Today says in its summary. "The matchup is known as The Biggest Game to the local fans. The two schools are only five miles apart. Geneva leads the all-time record, 51-39-5."

That's in football, of course. The best high school basketball game I've ever seen was a triple-overtime game in Geneva back in (I think) 1971-72, and that was one of many outstanding Batavia-Geneva match ups. There have been so many great games in so many sports over the years, there is just no way to rank them all.

One of the best sources about this 100-year-old rivalry is the "Batavia History" web page from the Batavia Public Library, so check that out if you get a chance.

To vote, go to this USA Today page that says: "VOTE FOR THE BEST RIVALRY IN ILLINOIS."

Be sure to type in the "verify code." Then vote away!
