The September Equinox will welcome fall.

Plus, head over to St. Charles North High School tonight to watch the Vikings step into the lion's den that is the North Star's Homecoming game.

Here are five things going on today, Friday, Sept. 23, 2011:

1. Just in time for Geneva High School Homecoming 2011, . Make-up consultations will be free; manicures and pedicures are $20 each.

2. Bring some chairs and a blanket and hang out on the lawn for a Ravinia-style night of music during  at 6 p.m. at the . Tonight's performance will feature the soothing sounds of Sharon Hartley.  Sharon is a solo guitar artist with an organic blend of acoustic music with mindful lyrics.

This is a free event, open to all ages.

3. Head over to 735 Parker Court in Geneva for an  featuring everything from furniture to pet supplies. The sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., tomorrow and Saturday.

4.  varsity football team will play  at 7:30 p.m. at the North Stars' stadium, 225 Red Gate Road, St. Charles. This game will be St. Charles North's Homecoming game. 

5. Fun Fact: The September Equinox will take place at 9:04 a.m., meaning today is officially the first day of fall for the northern hemisphere. During the equinox, the length of night and day across the world is relatively the same because the Earth's tilt is a straight line, perpendicular to the sun.
