Back-to-School Night, Cougar Playoff's, WLS DJ Speaks and More—5 Things You Should Know for Wednesday, Sept. 7

Plus, an art opening at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Geneva High School parents are encouraged to attend tonight's Back-to-School night. This is an important event for Geneva parents to be involved in. 

Also, it's National Acorn Squash Day. Acorn Squash can be a bit of a mystery when it comes to figuring out how to make it edible, but never fear, we found what looks like a good recipe. Feel free to let us know in the comments section how it worked out. 

And, the Their first home game in a best-of-three series is tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 7.

1. The  will run from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in the juror lounge of the Kane County Judicial Center. This event will showcase written and visual art from defendants within the drug-rehabilitation court program.

The Drug Court treatment program is a structured judicial intervention process that assists defendants by bringing them together with substance abuse professionals and other monitoring elements. The court system is then able to aid in the addiction recovery process, giving them the social programs needed for successful rehabilitation.

2. Head over to the from noon to 1 p.m. and see  talk about his book, Clark Weber's Rock and Roll Radio: The Fun Years, 1955-1975. 

Weber is an important personality in the world of vintage radio. He started at WLS as a graveyard shift DJ and climbed his way up to program director, choosing the music played on WLS for more than 10 years.

4. will hold its annual Back-to-School Night from 6:45 to 9 p.m. starting in the cafeteria. Representatives from the PTO, various booster clubs, as well as the Geneva Academic Foundation will be on hand to answer any questions. Parents are to report to their child's first-period class at 7 p.m. 

All parents are encouraged to participate in this event. It is a good way to meet your child's teachers and communicate with other parents. 

5. Fun Fact: Today is National Acorn Squash Day. Although Acorn Squash is considered a winter squash, it comes from the same family as many summer vegetables, including zucchini and yellow squash. It is also a good source of dietary fiber and potassium.
