Girl's School Memories, Chocolate Tours, Coffee at the Creek and More—5 Things You Should Know for Wednesday, Aug. 17.

Ladies can get stylish fall wardrobe tips at the Geneva Commons today.

The is continuing its feature on the Illinois State Training School For Girls with another interesting and informative discussion tonight.

Also, the city will be paving another lot today. Find out below if your car needs to be moved this morning.

Here are five things going on Wednesday, Aug. 16:

1. Former workers at the Illinois State Training School for Girls will share their experiences during a program called, , starting at 7 p.m. at the Geneva History Center.

Some of the workers and employees include the family of the assistant superintendent of grounds, the last doctor who worked at the Girls School before its closing in 1977 and a former summer helper. Participants are welcome to ask questions and share their own stories.

2. You can take a chocolate tour through Geneva with  at 10:45 a.m. or 2:45 p.m. Points of interest on the tour include , , and .

Tickets are $40 per tour and can be purchased at Chicago Chocolate Tours website, http://www.chicagochocolatetours.com/geneva-il.

3. The city of  (between West State Street and Hamilton Street) plus the Water Street lot (northeast corner of East State Street and Water Street.) Residents are asked to have their vehicles moved from these lots by 7 a.m.

4. Join  for Coffee at the Creek, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Coffee and treats will be served and styling advisors will be on hand to give tips. Feel free to bring a friend or come to make new ones.

5. Fun Fact: Today is National Thrift Shop Day. Thrift stores usually sell used merchandise at a deeply discounted price. Bargain hunters know that a good thrift store or consignment shop is a real deal on savings on clothes, household items, books, toys and more.
