5 Things You Should Know for Tuesday, July 26—Geneva History Walking Tour, Cruise Night, Sports Registration and Bagelfest Day

Did you know that the largest bagel processing plant is located right here in Illinois? Read more about national Bagelfest Day below.

Geneva High School students playing sports during the 2011-12 school year should know there is an important registration deadline today. 

Also, you can attend a Rotary Club meeting early this morning and hear an important local speaker.

Here are five things happening in and around Geneva:

1. students participating in fall boys golf, girls golf or boys soccer at Geneva High School in the athletics office. The first official day of practice and tryout's is Aug. 10. 

2.  with Geneva History Center Museum Educator Margaret Selakovich from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Selakovich will give a guided tour of one of Geneva’s most interesting neighborhoods located north of State Street in the Historic District.

The guided tour will feature some of Geneva’s oldest churches and quaint homes, as well as stories about some of Geneva’s earliest settlers. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for Geneva History Center members and students. 

3. National Bagelfest Day takes place every July 26; Bagelfest Day was started by Harry Lender, of Lender's Bagels. While Lender's original operation was on the East Coast, it opened one of the largest bagel processing plants in 1986, in Mattoon, IL.

4. Join the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce for t from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. along 1st Street, between Main and Illinois streets. 

This family-friendly event showcases some of the area's best classic and antique cars. It is free to attend. 

5. If you're interested in becoming a member of the , please attend this morning's meeting from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. at in Geneva. Today's speaker will be Doris Frame of The Pampered Chef Company.
