UPDATE: Underage Drinking Fines Clarified, Plus Reports of Miscellaneous Mischief

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

An earlier version of this story noted the $100 fine for underage drinking, which is a higher fine than I've seen in other cases. Based on recent about fines and , it was my understanding that officers had some discretion in setting the fine.

But Geneva Cmdr. Eric Passerelli is helping me set the record straight.

"The fine is actually set by city ordinance, after adoption by the City Council, not the Police Department," he said. "We do not have discretion to charge more or less than the code states. There is a range of fines in the City Code—from $25 to $100—(but) it is strictly dependent on the offense committed."
