Geneva Mayor's Daughter Arrested on Charges of DUI

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A week after being cited with underage drinking, the daughter of Geneva's mayor and the Geneva History Center executive director was charged with driving under the influence.

Geneva police arrested Florence Burns, 19, of Geneva on charges of driving under the influence and DUI with a blood-alcohol count of more than .08 around 2 a.m. Sunday, June 2, in the 2200 block of Fargo Boulevard. According to a report in the Kane County Chronicle, an officer saw Burns park a 2003 Ford Explorer on Fargo, where several people exited the vehicle.

Charges were filed June 5, according to the Kane County Circuit Clerk e-Services portal. Burns has a plea-setting hearing July 17 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Burns is the daughter of Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns and Geneva History Center Executive Director Terry Emma.

Burns was one of 10 young people who were cited in connection with underage drinking May 25 at a home in the 1100 block of Fargo Boulevard, according to Geneva police reports.
