Geneva Grad Savagely Beaten Outside Home in Rural Rockford

Jim Burge is hospitalized after a confrontation, according to a report by mystateline.com.

Jim Burge, identified by several Geneva residents as a 1988 graduate of Geneva High School, was savagely beaten and "left for dead" in front of his home in rural Rockford, according to a report by mystateline.com, a Website powered by ABC and Fox affiliates in Rockford.

According to the report, what sounds like a road-rage incident took place Saturday on Oaklane Road. A white male driving a four-door car sped down the street when Burge yelled at him to slow down, said Burge's wife, Julie.

The man exited the car, fought Burge and left him bleeding by the side of the road, according to the report by Sachelle Saunders.

"Police grabbed me, one in each arm and pulled me back and said, 'You don't want to see him like this, you don't want to see him like this,' " Julie Burge said.

Friends and relatives on Facebook said Burge suffered severe head trauma, but he is walking with some help.
