Friends Raise Funds to Help Mill Creek Teacher Whose Husband Has Pancreatic Cancer

A dinner for the Dewald family will be held Oct. 25 at O'Sole Mio, 27 N. River St., Batavia.

Friends and family members are asking the community to help longtime Mill Creek Elementary School fourth-grade teacher Michelle Dewald and her family through a tough time.

Michelle's husband, Dave, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and Michelle is doing her best to support the family, take care of their two children and pay the bills for health care. It has been a struggle.

A benefit for the Dave and Michelle Dewald family will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at O’ Sole Mio, 27 N. River St., Batavia, as one part of a fundraising campaign organized by her friends.

Proceeds from the dinner will go directly to the family.

In addition to the Oct. 25 dinner, you can help the family by dining at O'Sole Mio from Oct. 21 through Oct. 24. During that time period, 20 percent of the sales at the restaurant will go to the Dewald family.

Friends also are holding a raffle, with a $500 grand prize and other prizes that include Bulls tickets and vacation packages. They are expected five to eight baskets for each prize. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

If you are interested in purchasing raffle and/or dinner tickets, please contact Julie Eiss or Peggy Crawford in the Mill Creek School office. In addition, if you would like to donate gift baskets, raffle type prizes, or make a donation to the Mill Creek Social Committee for the Dewald Family, please contact Crawford at pcrawford@geneva304.org or Eiss at jeiss@geneva304.org.
