I have lived in Pepper Valley in Geneva since 1990 with my wife Dorothy, who served for 22 years as alderman in the Fourth Ward and also as co-chair of the Geneva Beautification Committee. She also does volunteer work for the Geneva History Museum. Our son Brian spent his formative years here and now lives in Chicago with his wife and daughter. Dorothy's brother John lived with us here until passing away several years ago. And we have a cat named Guinness who allows us to share his living space. I am semi-retired and a partner in a telecommunications software company. I've served as a member of SPAC, did a brief stint as a Beacon columnist, served on the Pepper Valley Homeowners Association board and have been a volunteer in a number of activities around town. I'm currently a member of the Knights of Columbus Colombian Council 2191 un Batavia and also a member of the Moose.

I was a regular contributor to Geneva Patch when it first started up and after a long hiatus I've come back to give it another try. I am also a long-suffering Bears and White Sox fan and I don't know how many more rebuilding seasons I can go through. I enjoy stand-up comedy, British mysteries, and a good book. These are not the sorts of activities that inspire a lot of social media followers, so you won't be seeing me chronicling my daily inactivity on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Otherwise Facebook would have to add an emoji for boring to its reaction emojis. As a Patch mayor, it will be my pleasure to share some of the things I know about Geneva and hopefully provide you with some useful information about our town and the people and businesses here. And occasionally my perspective on things happening here and there, but mainly here. At least until Patch management comes to its senses and finds someone more talented and credible to do the job. I hope to be talking to many of you in the coming days and sharing your insights into this wonderful place we call home - Geneva.
