It sure seems strange that they should call contributions to S/S ,and Medicare " taxes", when they are contributions, that the government mandates, for the good of those that "contribute, to prevent total destitution,of those who have to retire for various reasons (old age, injury, etc.) It has, single handedly saved millions of retire's from certain bankruptcy,or worse, over the many years that it has been in force! You must ask this question! Do you consider your contributions to your 401k, taxes??? Because, if you do, wait till you start to withdraw them,(from 401k plans) and you see, what real taxation, is!!!

The real issue here is LOVE! If anyone here would actually read what Mr. Kirk was saying, is that he realizes life is short!! If you can find love in any relationship, what ever works for you, then who has the right to deny that love! Compassion for ones fellow humans quest for true love, be it hetero, homo, or what ever, is no one's business, and to judge one's fellow man's idea of love, is very un Christian, despite all the "Christian diatribes", being bantered about ! If you approach this from a Constitutional side, the law cannot discriminate between one type of relationship, or another, period!! Hasn't anyone learned from the racial discrimination problem, from the recent past?????

The Cub's have always been a baseball soap opera,as every year they start with a "fresh" outlook, but with the same old line up, usually with a few supplemental players of dubious distinction meant to show that they are serious in improving their chances, but in reality, all a Cub's fan can look forward too, is going to the world's longest running beer bash, in one of the greatest party area's of the city, Wrigleyville! Not so bad, as long as you don't mind dropping the "buck's", for the "fun!" Chicago,on the North side, in the summer! What more could one ask for???

Hey Jeff! He is only doing what every businessman in our great country is doing, trying to "control costs", in the form of trying to reduce, "outlays!" If you are going to attack him for this, you must also realize that every corporate entity, from the smallest, to the largest, has some sort of "control" they utilize, to reduce tax outlay, be it congressional "forgiveness, in the form of write off's. or special dispensations, given in the name of "competitive advantage!" There is a whole industry involved with reducing tax outlay, for those who can afford it, and, it is just the way it is! It appears that you have gone that route, and it doesn't mean you are a "bad person", just an informed citizen! It is the American way, to "reduce your tax load!" Until the codes are rewritten , to make them more "fair", this is the way, things are done, and its just, "doing business!"

He warns us that inaction would send us over the "fiscal cliff", but then vote's against the last minute package, to avoid, just that? Yes, the "package", was imperfect, but vote yes, and then fix the rest of the mess! It appears that the party line, was more important, then the constituents! Something to remember, next election!

Well, do you get what you pay for, every time you spend your money on anything, any more? Compare a power tool, or anything, that used to be made in America, and compare its quality, with an older tool, and the difference, you will notice, is easily seen! That is just one example, of many, with the now "throw away" mentality! Its not to far of a stretch, to see that way of thinking, with everything else that we "pay for!" It is something we all have come to except, and we only have ourself's, to blame, for its existence, in every thing! (the political system, especially ) Feeling "taken for a ride" lately? Blame yourself, for not demanding, the best, and accepting junk, instead! From every one, and every thing! There, really, are far to many diversions today, to focus on anything, and it show's!

Finally, some one who realize's that we need to attract new business' ! Now, if he had some advice for the Charlestown mall's owners, for how to get some business! It appears as they are just using the mall, as a tax write off, and nothing more! What a shame to walk in there, and see the shadow of what it once was, even though the surrounding area, could easily support it, demographic wise!

Common sense, and the willingness, of our elected officials, to see what was happening here, that is, for a developer to "change their minds" about their original intent's,to something that would bring more profit, to them, and leave the after effects, to the people in the surrounding area,, who have to live with the results,is heartening! If I decide to put a high rise, on my residential "pad", I would expect to receive, the same treatment! Thank You for listening to the residents!

Again, with the people who seem to think that the label communist, is an "evil" thing, and throw the term around, lightly, perhaps should realize that most of the manufactured goods, sold in the US,yes, those one's you purchase on a day to day basis, are virtually all produced, in a communist country, China! So, if that label is so disgusting to you, remember your "patriotic duty", and boycott those companies who use communist labour, to bring you your consumer goods! By the way, you won't be able to purchase, much!!

Sorry to hear that they couldn't make it there, however, there are a lot of business' that are struggling in St Charles! Just walk through Charlestown Mall,if you want a feel of what its like to have a business, in this city! You could blame the residents who don't support the local stores, or who would rather go to another town, for their needs, but then, they should remember that it is in their own interest's to support their neighbourhood establishments! That said, the question is, "Are the business' here, giving the residents, what they want?"
