On the article Oberweis: 'Quite frankly, I’m Getting Fed Up' With State Pension Fiasco

ReplyThis bloviating ignoramus writing about the pension crisis when he and his political cronies failed to contribute their fair share and stole from the fund diverting the monies to their personal interest areas and lining their pockets. Never mind the fact that these political scumbags forged amendents to our IL constitution which allowed them to line their personal portfoilios and pensions and then they have the unmitigated gall to campaign against issues after they created the problems. K M A----Oberweis !!!!

ReplyIt is very sad that this man was not indicted for 10yrs and it took our legal system 5 addtl yrs to get a conviction. The knowns of the case with 2 males shot in back of the head--burnt in the car---dating the female involved---just typical of the state of our society.

On the article Who Do You Endorse for Mayor: Kevin Burns or Bob McQuillan?
Paul Bellinger
3:10 pm on Monday, February 4, 2013
ReplyMr. Burns has had 3 relatively successful terms as mayor of Geneva IL----It appears Mr McQuillan is a refreshing and progressive face in the race for 2013. I am leaning towards Bob Q at this time. I feel that Bob Q will lead the city in a cumbersome and tough battle facing our changing times and economic tumult. Geneva is a staid and conservative city and needs some major changes in the future to keep pace with the dynamics of what it will need to survive and hopefully prosper in the future.

ReplyHopefully these establishments served our community well over the decades. If we mirror life---there are lots of changes to be made. My Hope is that we pursue and obtain some fine businesses to replace our lost ones. Geneva--its peoples---and our lives all have to change to keep pace with progress. Who really knows what lies ahead for our own housing futures as well as in town business futures??? Sometimes --take a look at how we were living as recently as 2-3 decades ago. The old timers sometimes get falsely caught up with how good things "were" and how they don't make 'em like they used to. There is always good and bad to change. Just have to make sure it all balances out.

ReplyAll I know is that the Genevans spend way too much time and analysis which usually results in "paralysis thru analysis". Green space---historic site---etc---YIKES---I have got a headache reading the comments. We would never reach a consensus of opinion if this were to voted on thru a referendum. The building has been in the village for about 90 years----longer than most of us live. Ask yourselves----what is the rationale for maintaining---re-habbing---preserving the building. It is brick and mortar for God sake---leave it go.

On the article Geneva Will Say Goodbye to Red-Light Cameras March 8

ReplyI have no claims to any expertise in traffic/highway safety--let alone the town of Geneva. My belief is that our driving public has become very dangerous. There are many reasons for this behavior---including hot headed-ness and impatience. There are a lot of accidents on Randall Rd --simply due to volume. We cannot police every car and driver on a 24/7 basis. Accidents happen due to careless and reckless behaviors of the operators---sometimes they are impaired due to drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately---this is our society in 2013. For the most part---we are generally good people and reasonably careful drivers. Thinking that a camera would eliminate or substantially reduce accidents/deaths is wishful thinking. Sadly---as most decisions in life---money gets in the way of judgment.

Just because the Geneva admin does not vote in your favor on one issue---they are not completely dysfunctional as is our Congress.

ReplyVote "NO"----the bldg must GO-----everything in this country needs a forum--discussion--study--etc. I am sick and tired of it. This demolition will not cause our children and grandchildren any angst.

I moved here in late 2004 and the price of a garbage sticker was considerably below $2.70. Excellent book by David Cay Johnston called "THE FINE PRINT" does an excellent expose on the monopolistic garbage industry and their price gouging. Garbage Pick Up is common sense and planning. I do not wish to hurt the people driving the trucks and picking up our waste--verbally--or financially. There are a lot of options to consider in this waste hauling scenario.
