About Mike

I am a long time Geneva, Illinois resident living here since about 1980, visiting family here since the early 1970s and roots going back to 1903.  I am enamoured with the City of Geneva and what it has to offer in this era of sprawl. I am very involved with the city and have had a seat on the Historic Preservation Commission since 2001. My wife and I won a preservation award by the city for the restoration of our home in downtown Geneva.

I am a small business owner doing Information Technology consulting as 1st Layers Consulting.  I have a computer engineering degree from the Univeristy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and have been working in technology since floppy disks had a capacity of 720 KILObytes...and they were actually floppy.

I have keen interests in science, education, philosophy, historic preservation, ethics/morality, religion and church/state issues. I believe truth matters and that public policy should be based on evidence not ideology. I describe my political leanings as pragmatarian...but most would probably call them moderate.
