Great politicians are elected by those that vote.We need practical stewards with experience - not political malarky.
They are all good at being politicians... some just don't get anything practical done as stewards of tax dollars and creating an atmosphere of equal, unencumbered opportunity and liberty and freedom. I am still waiting for the first Senate Finannce and Banking committee member to apologize to tax payers and acknowlege that their efforts to regulate and protect the financial safety and security... well... were substandard and not up to American standards or expectations... but they were great politicians...

When only 13-16% of the voting population goes out to vote, there is a clear and present danger to democracy and the system. The question to ask is why such little turnout and involvement? Could it be that lack of term limits allow the creation of political machines that over time, make people feel like their voice is never heard anyways?
It is a serious question to ponder - the lack of voter turnout is a real serious reflection of an apathy that the voting population has, and a sympton of some potential serious threats to democracy (if democracy is to be of the people, by the people, and for the people). For that reason, and that reason alone, I would support term limits, as it would by necessity, create a need for more involvement and participation - whether it would result in more turnout and participation is an unknow question - however, when only 13-16% of the voting population feels inclined to vote, they are basically saying the system in place doesn't relate to them in any meaningful manner, and is just window dressing. That is a serious issue that could use some conversation -why 87% of the voters do not feel that their vote matters or do not care to take the time to elect government.

That was a terrific explanation and made a lot of sense. It still does not explain why drummer's have a silly sense of humor...maybe the pattern idea applies...
