"Your not saving us nothing." Well, double negative there so they are saving us something--and improper word (you're is correct). And "street creed" must be some kind of new prayer....
Maybe if the school district or other governmental agencies answered the questions when they are asked there would be no need for a FOIA. Answer the questions in the public if you have nothing to hide! There does not need to be any kind of adversarial relationship if public officials who are paid with taxpayer dollars answer the questions that are presented to them.
And yes, I can "defiantly" take it. I use my real name, ask real questions, and vote in EVERY election (unlike the many people who post here and elsewhere who do not use their real names). I have real concerns about folks who try to stifle honest straightforward citizen participation in government and have no problem with discussing my concerns. if there is nothing to hide, if officials are proud of how they spend hard earned taxpayer dollars they should be forthright with information to the very people who supply the $ they spend.
And FYI, provide one scintilla of information to back up the "you all" contention that anyone who supports TaxFacts is irrelevant. Must not be so because you and Cabeen and your associates are still fussing about TaxFacts.

Bob: what part of participatory government do you not understand? This ongoing "TaxFacts is evil" whining thing is SO tiring and petty. Discussing the issues is wonderful, admirable, informative---but the pettiness is juvenile. If anyone doesn't agree with the SUBSTANCE of the issues TaxFacts brings up then absolutely engage in active discussion. Do you expect anyone in this community to blindly accept anything the city, county or school administrations present without question because YOU or anyone else says so? I'm in support of participatory government--and that means it is your choice to tune in or tune out but for gosh sakes stop whining about any group that chooses to research, question, or suggest alternatives. TaxFacts participants should be congratulated for being good citizens.

John R: move along. Your usual "TaxFacts is evil" diatribe is tiring. The election is over and now it's time to deal with the aftermath. Asking questions about how hard earned taxpayer dollars are spent is a good thing. If you don't like the method or delivery then just tune it out. Maybe you need a civics' class refresher: participatory government is a GOOD thing.

I was wondering what that was. Boom and the house shook!

Rick--you are not being an objective reporter by posting a title like "McQuillan gets bristly." It seems that when anyone questions anything that happens in Geneva, or dares to suggest financial restraint in our quaint burg they get labeled as bristly or such. This was participatory democracy--a citizen expecting elected officials to serve us the taxpayers? They should be questioned or will spend and do as THEY please--perhaps not doing what is best for their bosses--the taxpayers. And since when is a budget a "planning document" ???? It is supposed to determine what will be spent and on what. Yes, Bob, please question, probe and analyze. If asking questions and expecting honest answers qualifies as "bristly" in Geneva we are in real trouble.

John R: you are a condescending juvenile. Grow up and look around. Our country is sinking into oblivion because too many people refuse to speak up, to yell. We are swimming in debt and our rights are being eroded by bullies who need to control the dissenters. Nope, not going to sit back and allow bullies like you to tell me to chill, shut up or other such tripe. Again, democracy is messy, and we all need to be a part of it. So John--I'm still here. Deal with it. People like Bob and me and others like us will be alert, voting, running for office and participating in our messy democracy.

John R--you poor baby! You might be offended by a loud voice? Wow, you must be part of the "touchy-feely" folks who don't want there to be valedictorians or awards for winners! Grow up buddy. If you don't get that sometimes people need to raise their voices then I really feel sorry for you.
BTW, have been to limited Bd. of Ed. meetings and don't remember speaking so I certainly haven't raised my voice. So your zing at me is uninformed, moot, and dumb. Also, have you never seen the British Parliament? Watch it some time--they yell, they jeer, they speak their minds. It's invigorating!
It isn't grade school. Sometimes democracy is messy. Stop being offended when someone speaks up.

Well we are discussing the school board and education in Geneva so one would think that expressing an opinion on a public site would mean some acknowledgment of the need for clarity in how those opinions are expressed. Petty? Well I think this whole bashing of TaxFacts is pretty petty.
