Wheaton North High School teacher Edwin Klemm of St. Charles is charged with 11 counts of criminal sexual assault of a student, prosecutors said Wednesday.
A Wheaton North High School English teacher has been charged with 11 counts of criminal sexual assault of a teen, after he had sexual encounters with a former student starting when she was 16 in a classroom, a parking garage in Chicago and at his home, prosecutors said. Edwin Klemm, 43, of St. Charles, has been a teacher at Wheaton North for 13 years and once served as a coach for the school's speech team. District 200 officials said Wednesday Klemm has been suspended without pay and will not return to work until the issue is resolved. Klemm is being held at DuPage County Jail on $600,000 bail, with 10 percent needed to apply as bond. The St. Charles City Council, in its last scheduled meeting of 2012, voted unanimously Monday night to purchase the former George’s Sports Center, 107-109 E. Main St., with an eye toward partnering with the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., to provide it with additional facilities. The cost of the $225,000 purchase will be paid for through savings the city achieved on some of its capital projects over the past year, or from capital projects that were planned but can be delayed, said St. Charles City Administrator Brian Townsend. Adam Zbrozek, principal of Richmond Intermediate School, is leaving St. Charles Consolidated Unit School District 303 to assume the position of principal at Yorkville Middle School in Yorkville District 115. Zbrozek, a Yorkville resident, has served in administrative roles in District 303 for seven years, including assistant principal of Haines Middle School and principal of Lincoln School. According to a District 115 press release Zbrozek has spearheaded the development of a dual language program in his current position at Richmond Intermediate School, which features Spanish and French, as well as implementing a one to one technology program utilizing iPads for all students.
