Any agency under the Illinois Flag Display Act is asked to fly flags at half-staff immediately until sunset, Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in honor of victims of Libyan attack.
The Department of Central Management Services has received notice from President Barack Obama that all persons or entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly the flags at half-staff immediately until Sunset, Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. The flag order honors the victims of the attack in Benghazi, Libya. According to a report in HuffPost World, the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other American diplomats might have been planned—linked to the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks carried out by al Qaeda in Washington and New York. Earlier today, U.S. Congressman Randy Hultgren joined Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in condemning the Tuesday attacks.
