UPDATE: Police Do Drug Search of Geneva Middle Schools; No Drugs Found

Middle schools send notice of drug search Thursday morning at both Geneva middle schools. Police report no drugs were found in either school.

School District 304 sent an e-mail notice from Geneva Middle School Principal Larry Bidlack on Thursday morning, saying that drug-sniffing dogs had searched both middle schools earlier in the day. The e-mail hit inboxes around 10:18 a.m., simply to inform parents that the search was conducted. Such searches have become relatively routine in area schools. Geneva Police Cmdr. Julie Nash said no drugs were found at either school. Nash said the searches were conducted between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15. In the District 304 e-mail, Bidlack said the middle schools are "taking a more proactive approach to keeping drugs out of our school."  "Our intent is to send a strong message to the school community: We will not tolerate drugs…
