More Holiday-Themed Petty Crime in Geneva

Pumpkin remnants say goodbye to Thanksgiving, cut light cord says hello to Christmas crime.

Pumpkin remnants of Thanksgiving crimes past and the first cut cord of the Christmas holiday season lit up the Geneva police blotter this week. Happy holidays! Criminal Damage to Property Under $300—Someone threw a pumpkin at a metal roadside mailbox sometime between 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20 ad 7 a.m. Nov. 21 in the 3200 block of Fieldstone Drive, denting the mailbox and almost knocking it off the post, Geneva police reports said. “It should be noted there were still pumpkin remnants on the street, along with the side of the mailbox,” reports said. The estimated value of the mailbox is $140. Police Reports: What's With All the Eggs? This Is Christmas Crime Season

Someone decides 'tis the season for egg-throwing in Geneva.

Apparently, some criminals didn't get the holiday memo. In upcoming reports, you'll see additional petty crime that's in keeping with the season: pumpkins thrown at mailboxes and Christmas light cords severed, that sort of thing. This egging spree is something we'd expect in April. We're calling the Easter Bunny, or perhaps Alec Baldwin. Geneva apparently needs a Rise of the Guardians. Anyway, here are two reports freshly laid in the Geneva Police Department basket: Criminal Damage to Property Under $300—Someone threw several eggs at a vehicle while it was parked unattended in the roadway in front of a residence in the 1100 block of Cheever Avenue around 9:55 p.m. Nov. 20, reports said. Someone Steals an 'Easter Island Head' Sculpture From Front Yard

Police reports: Theft under $300 and criminal damage to property among the miscellaneous items in this week's blotter.

You know those monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people from rock on the Chilean Polynesian island of Easter Island between the years 1250 and 1500? Yeah, those things. Well, a 4-foot tall one was taken from the front of a Geneva home. We are not making this up. Also, someone decided orange paint would look good on the sidewalk of a home on Wood Avenue. Why, we do not know. We simply report what's in the Geneva police blotter. Theft Under $300—Someone took an “Easter Island Head” sculpture from the front yard of a residence in the 2200 block of Pepper Valley Drive sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 16 and 7 a.m. Nov. 17, Geneva police reports said. Geneva Woman Arrested for Striking Victim, Biting Him in the Neck

Geneva police arrested Ashley Pomplin, 24, of Geneva on charges of battery and criminal damage to property after an incident at around 1:37 a.m. Oct. 4 in the 500 block of Westfield Course, reports said. According to the complaint in the 16th Circuit Court, Pomplin struck the victim in the face and neck with her fist, bit him in the neck and left knee and knowlingly damaged the victim’s Motorola Droid Razor cell phone valued at $100. Pomplin has a November court date at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. It's chaos, really, when people go around taking Disney-themed lawn ornaments and shattering car windows. Here are three reports from the Geneva Police Department files. Theft Under $500—Someone took a bronze Mickey and Minnie Mouse lawn ornament from a home in the 2100 block of Fargo Boulevard sometime between 2 p.m. Sept. 8 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12, Geneva police reports said. The lawn ornaments were about 1-foot tall, with an estimated value of $100. 2 Cases of Vehicle Driving Across Lawns, on Both Sides of Geneva, Sept. 11

Geneva police reports: A vehicle (or more than one vehicle) drives across the lawns of two Geneva homes in wee hours of Tuesday, Sept. 11.

A black pickup was spotted leaving the scene around 4 a.m. Sept. 11 after driving across the front yard of a home on Sandholm Street on the East Side. Then, in a window of about the same hour, a vehicle is reported driving through the front yard of a home on Maple Lane on the West Side. Coincidence? You decide. Criminal Damage to Property Over $300—Someone drove a vehicle across the front lawn of a home in the 200 block of Maple Lane sometime between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sept. 11, Geneva police report. The estimated damage to the yard was set at $600. Graffiti Artists Mark Burgess Field Ticket Booth—And More Criminal Damage Reports

The ticket booth and signs outside Burgess Field get marked up prior to the first home game. Other criminal damage to property reports in Geneva include more graffiti, a damaged fence and a scratched car hood.

Vandals got to Geneva's home field just before the first football game of the season. That's one of four criminal damage reports collected from the Geneva police blotter in last week's roundup. Criminal Damage to State-Supported Land—Someone spray painted graffiti on the northern ticket booth at Burgess Field as well as two metal signs affixed to the chainlink fence sometime between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and 6 a.m. Aug. 21, reports said. The graffiti on the ticket booth read “Kill People” and “(Various Cuss Words) School” and “unspecified designs” were painted on the metal signs, according to reports. Police Blotter: Shattered Home Window and More Phallic Spray Paint

Criminal Damage to Property: A shattered 3-by-5-foot pane of safety glass and a Geneva electric box are the targets this time around.

Damage to a home and to public property were among this week's collection of Geneva police reports. Someone shattered a 3-by-5-foot pane of safety glass in the front door of a home in the 2800 block of Caldwell Lane sometime between 8 a.m. July 2 and 6:16 p.m. July 4, Geneva police reports said. The neighbor’s glass door was intact. Reports said the glass appeared to have been broken by an unknown object, but no foreign debris was discovered that might have caused the damage. Someone spray painted a penis on a city of Geneva electrical box located in the rear yard in the 600 block of Parker Court sometime prior to 7 a.m. July 3, police reports said. The electric box is located near Moore Park, 801 Geneva Drive, and there is a walking path …

Police Blotter: Orthodontist's Sign Damaged and Other Criminal Damage

Geneva Police Reports: An orthodontist's sign and two mailboxes are among the criminal damage to property items.

A rock and a baseball bat are among the items suspected to have inflicted criminal damage to property in this roundup from the Geneva Police Department reports. Criminal Damage to Property Over $300—Someone damaged the business sign at Dentistry Orthodontics, 2700 Keslinger Road, sometime between 9 p.m. June 19 and 8 a.m. June 20, reports said. The owner said the sign apparently was damaged when someone threw a rock through the plastic panel. The cost of repair is estimated at $600. Criminal Damage to Property Under $300—Someone damaged a wooden mailbox and post in the 800 block of Chandler Avenue sometime between midnight and 10 a.m. June 13, reports said. Police Reports: Presbyterian Church Playhouse Takes Beating

A person or persons breaks the Plexiglass window of a playhouse at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, one of several incidents at the church playground.

Someone broke a Plexiglass window of a playhouse at the Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 East Side Drive, sometime between 6 p.m. May 28 and 8 a.m. May 29, reports said. The playhouse is located at the far eastern edge of the church property, and whoever did it damaged the window by forcing in the Plexiglass, breaking the material and damaging the frame, reports said. The church representatives told police that there have been several other incidents at the playground, such as taking items and putting them in the retention area. An almost-identical report regarding Plexiglass window damage to the church playhouse was filed in October 2010. Playground equipment at Faith Christian School, 1745 Kaneville Road, was damaged in August 2011. …
