A 20-year-old Elburn man faces a Dec. 20 sentencing after pleading guilty to child-pornography charges.
An Elburn man honored two years ago as an exemplary student at Kaneland High School now awaits sentencing on charges of possession of child pornography. Scott Burgholzer faces probation or possible prison time for his conviction on one count of aggravated possession of child pornography when he is sentenced Dec. 20. Geneva police were tipped to Burgholzer, who was 19 at the time, when a "Geek Squad" technician at Best Buy called authorities in December 2011 after a Best Buy employee found child pornography on Burgholzer's computer. Kaneland High School named Burgholzer one of its students-of-the-term for Term 1 of the 2009-10 school year. The program recognizes students who exemplify commitment, character, leadership qualities and academic…

The child pornography case against Gary Reschke sees its first court appearance today (Tuesday), and a couple of cases continue in Elmhurst reminiscent of the Casey Anthony scenario.
Among the items in Kane and DuPage courtrooms this week is the case of the Geneva man charged with aggravated child pornography and Coroner Chuck West's case. Further from home are the horrible cases of a woman accused of trying to kill her infant grandson and another woman charged with drugging her son in an attempted murder-suicide. Considering all the attention given to the Casey Anthony trial, it's amazing (but probably a good thing) that those stories haven't gotten more media attention. Geneva—Gary Reschke, recently charged with aggravated child pornography, is scheduled for his first formal appearance on July 12. Geneva—Loren Carerra's lawsuit against Coroner Chuck West and two deputies returns to court for a status hearing on …

From Glen Ellyn to Batavia to Geneva, sex offenders have certainly been in the news lately.
Geeez! My first writing break in three years and all heck breaks loose! Well, maybe not “all heck,” but it’s not every day they pick up someone for possession of child pornography a scant two blocks from your house. It’s certainly been the talk of the neighborhood. And I’m guessing the fine folks in Glen Ellyn are having some similar conversations. Let’s start with Geneva. On June 14, the Geneva Police, in conjunction with Illinois State’s Attorney investigators, arrested Gary Reschke, 56, of 3102 Larrabee Dr., Geneva, on 12 counts of aggravated child pornography and three counts of child pornography. Police discovered both images and videos in his home. The culmination of a four-month investigation, those charges could put Reschke in jail…
