PHOTO/VIDEO UPDATE: Accident With Injuries Stops Traffic on Randall Road

An apparent two-vehicle crash sends drivers to Delnor Hospital as southbound Randall Road is shut down around 10 a.m. Monday, May 20.

Batavia police and fire officials had to shut down southbound Randall Road for at least a half hour Monday to clear the road and transport drivers to Delnor Hospital. The crash took place around 10 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, near the intersection of Randall Road and Mill Street, Tri-Com Dispatch scanner reports said. Southbound Randall Road remained blocked by emergency vehicles as of 10:35 a.m. Vehicles were being rerouted through business parking lots during the crash cleanup. Tri-Com reports said there were injuries in the crash, and ambulances were leaving in the director of Delnor Hospital around 10:20 a.m. Patch will update this article when information is available from official sources.

VIDEO: Easter Sunday Fire Erupts in St. Charles Home on State Avenue

FINAL UPDATE: An Easter Sunday fire caused an estimated $250,000 damage to a home on St. Charles' East Side. Here's what happened ...

A house fire at 608 State Ave. in St. Charles about 12:29 p.m. shook up the Easter Sunday for residents and neighbors on the East Side and caused an estimated $250,000 in damage. No one was injured. The St Charles Fire Department arrived at the blaze by 12:32 p.m. and found heavy smoke showing from all floors of the three-story home, according to a release from the department. “Upon entry, fire was found on all three floors,” the release states. “Due to the size of the fire, the alarm was upgraded to a first level MABAS box alarm, bringing additional assistance to the scene,” the release states. MABAS is an acronym for Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. According to the release, the fire was extinguished in about 2½ hours. But firefighters …

PHOTOS: About 50 Gallons of Diesel Fuel Spills into Batavia Stormwater on Kirk Road

Tri-Com reports that about 50 gallons of diesel fuel has spilled into the Batavia stormwater system on Douglas Road near Kirk Road.

About 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into the Batavia stormwater system around 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, following a truck fuel-tank leak near the intersection of Douglas Road and Kirk Road in Batavia. The leak was caused when a drive shaft broke and punctured two holes in the truck's fuel tank, Batavia Deputy Fire Chief Randy Banker said at the scene. Batavia police and fire officials reported to Douglas Road around 2 p.m., and Batavia public works personnel, North Aurora and Fermilab spill units, and Kane County personnel were at the scene as of 3 p.m.  The Kane County Highway Department and the Environmental Protection Agency were contacted, as well, Banker said. At 3 p.m. traffic on Kirk Road was not affected by the cleanup effort. …

ALDI Warehouse Fire Ends in $3,000 Damages Early Saturday

The Batavia Fire Department reported to the scene at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Here's what happened.

A fire caused some damage early this morning at the ALDI Warehouse in Batavia, officials said. The fire appears to have started in a work area on a bench at the warehouse, located at 1200 N. Kirk Road, according to a Batavia Fire Department press release. Firemen were dispatched to the scene at 12:31 a.m. Fire crews initially did not know where the fire was. Batavia's Engine #1 crew entered the warehouse building to check a panel and investigate. Once inside, the Engine #1 crew reported smoke in the building. The alarm was upgraded to a full still and then a general alarm after the crew reported a fire in the forklift charging room. Batavia Fire's Engine #2 and Truck #1 crews joined Engine #1 to fight the fire. They advanced a 2.5-inch …

Batavia Hay Fire Outside Home Ends in $1K Damages Monday

A small hay fire Monday afternoon shook up some residents on Batavia's north side. The fire took place just outside a garage on the 1400 block of Orion Road. Batavia, North Aurora and other area fire crews were dispatched to the scene at 12:33 p.m., according to a press release. The initial call was for a possible garage fire, but once on scene fire crews found a bale of straw burning next to a garage. They were able to extinguish the blaze with minimal damage to the house exterior. The fire did not extend to the home interior, said Robert White, a Batavia Fire battalion chief. …

Batavia Police Name Driver in Fatal Crash Friday on Randall Road

Here is his identity and more details about the crash.

Police on Saturday morning identified the man who died after a two-car crash Friday on Randall Road. The man is 61-year-old David A. Schele of Sugar Grove, according to Batavia police. Schele died due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to a police press release issued Saturday. "Schele had been transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL," the release said. "The cause of the crash is still under investigation." Schele's vehicle and another vehicle with a male and female inside were involved in the crash, which occurred at Randall Road and McKee Street in Batavia. Man Dies After 2-Car Crash Friday on Randall Road

Update: Batavia police Saturday morning identified the man who died after the crash. One man was taken to a hospital and two other people were treated and released after a two-car crash late Friday afternoon on Batavia's west side. The serious crash occurred in the area of Randall Road and McKee Street. Batavia police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene at about 6:22 p.m., according to a police press release issued late Friday night. UPDATE: Woman Transported After Rollover Crash on Main Street in Batavia Sunday

One female was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle rollover crash that snapped a utility pole Sunday on Batavia's west side, officials said. The incident occurred on Main Street between Feece Drive and Batavia Fire Station 2, said Randy Zies, Batavia Fire battalion chief. Station 2 is located at 1400 Main Street. One sport-utility or station wagon-type vehicle was involved in the crash. Emergency crews were initially dispatched to the scene at 11:27 a.m. Sunday. Police Name Driver in Fatal Route 25 Crash

The 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Here is his identity and how the crash happened.

Police Monday afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of a two-car crash on Route 25 near Batavia. The driver is 45-year-old Karl Smith of St. Charles, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Smith was driving a sport-utility vehicle on Route 25 along a curve when his vehicle spun out of control, crossing into opposite traffic, the Sheriff's Office said. Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash north of the Banbury Road intersection at about 9 a.m. Jan. 7. The SUV struck a Honda Accord that was traveling south on Route 25. The driver of the Accord, a 60-year-old woman from Batavia, was transported to Delnor Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She was later released from Delnor Monday afternoon, a Cadence …

2 Drivers Sent to Hospital After Minivans Crash Sunday on Fabyan Parkway

Both vans sustained heavy damage, officials said. Here are more details.

Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday night after their minivans were involved in a crash on Fabyan Parkway, officials said. The crash occurred on Fabyan along the bridge just east of Route 31, said Lt. Scott Hogan of the Batavia Fire Department. Batavia police and fire were dispatched to the scene sometime after 7:30 p.m. A total of two minivans were involved in the crash — one had a male driver, the other a female driver. Hogan refuted initial reader reports that the crash was a head-on collision. "One vehicle had heavy front-end damage, the other had heavy side damage," Hogan told Batavia Patch.
