Geneva Reports 3 Single-Car Accidents on 1 Slippery Day

A Thursday snowfall makes driving treacherous in Geneva.

One-Car Accident with Injuries on Dodson Street—The front of a Pontiac G6 drivern by Janelle Underway, 22, of Geneva skidded on the wet snow and struck a tree on the north side of the 0-99 block of Dodson Street around 3:38 p.m. Feb. 7, Geneva police reports said. The message should be more than just "Be Careful Driving in Snow!"... The first incident, since the car had expired registration, it's not a stretch to imagine that the tires were under the legal tread limit...a real factor in winter driving safety. A good set of all-season tires could have prevented this. In the US, we just ignore this equipment stuff as a cause for crashes. It's always …   more ›

Nov. 21 Dense Fog Caused One-Car Accident at Peck and Kaneville

Accident Reports: O'Hare and Midway weren't the only places affected by the pre-Thanksgiving fog.

The Nov. 21 fog that wreaked havoc on air travel for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend also wreaked a little havoc on drivers in our area, Geneva police reports show. The unsually dense fog delayed or stranded hundreds of travelers at O'Hare and Midway airports, and the National Weather Service-Chicago warned that morning that "dense fod will make traveling by car or air very challenging through early afternoon." That was definitely true for Matthew Kaspar, 19, of Elburn, whose Chrysler Sebring collided with a tree on the south side of Kaneville Road at around 5:22 a.m. Nov. 21, according to Geneva Police Department reports.
