Ploppert Set to Announce Run for 1st Ward Alderman

The 21-year-old Genevan lost one election but says he's ready now for a run at Geneva's 1st Ward.

Community activist Zac Ploppert will hold a press conference on the steps of Geneva’s City Hall at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, to officially announce his candidacy for 1st Ward Alderman in the city of Geneva. Ploppert, 21, is a recent graduate of Northern Illinois University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. He likely would face incumbent Sam Hill, if Hill decides to seek re-election. Ploppert came in third in a bid for a 1st Ward seat in 2010, when he ran against incumbent Chuck Brown, the eventual winner, and Library Board President Esther Barclay. The last thing Geneva needs is a guy who put himself through school while working, gives his time to the city and charitable organizations, has a passion for teaching, and wants to make a difference in the community he grew up in.
