Two February reports of car buglaries in Geneva resulted in prescription drugs and a Garmin global positioning unit taken. In the latter report, a witness saw people in dark, hooded sweatshirts trying to get into cars on Manchester Course. It's always a good idea to lock your vehicle and take any items of value out of the car, police advise. Burglary, Prescription Drugs—Someone took a bottle of Xanax and a bottle of Adderall from a Buick Century sometime between 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. Feb. 19, Geneva police reports said. An East Side neighborhood was hit with four vehicle burglaries, most likely in all in the wee hours of Oct. 4, and the primary target was global positioning system devices. Vehicle Burglary—Someone took a Garmin GPS, iPod Touch MP3 player, iPhone car charger and two pairs of sunglasses from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 700 block of Downing Place sometime between 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 and 7 a.m. Oct. 4, Geneva police reports said. Geneva police are investigating five vehicle burglaries that took place between Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 on Geneva's East side and two other vehicle burglaries on the West Side in late July. The seven vehicle burglaries are worth noting, and residents are encouraged to keep their cars locked and secure as often as possible. Global Positioning System units and cash or change often are targets. Every summer we have a rash of these types of burglaries. I left my vehicle unlocked last summer and someone rifled through it. My bad for forgetting to lock it up. It seems that the problem warrants a bit of attention from GPD. This summer is no different from the previous years. John   more ›
