Five Cited for Underage Drinking at Batavia Home

Batavia police arrested four and cited one juvenile for underage drinking May 19 at a residence in the 400 block of Wolcott Lane, reports said. The arrest around 12:36 a.m. May 19 and includes the host of the party under a separate charge, according to state law. Arrestees include: All the arrestees were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and have a court date of June 18, reports said. Beginning Jan. 1, 2013, Illinois state law has a little more teeth for those who host underage drinking parties. It is a Class A misdemeanor to host such events, which carries a fine of at least $500, and if there is injury or death resulting from an accident by any of the party-goers, the penalty can be as stringent as a Class 4 felony.   Patch …

This week's potpourri of crime includes everything but the kitchen sink. From underage drinking to cannabis to an accident with injuries. Here's the lineup: Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor—Geneva police arrested Darian Romero, 19, of Montgomery on charges of speeding 56 mph in a 45 mph zone and Illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor after a traffic stop around 3:14 a.m. April 27 in the 900 block of South Randall Road, reports said. He also was given a warning notice for having an unlit left front headlight. The underage drinking citation carries a fine of $250 if paid by the due date. 3 Students at Batavia High School Cited for Drug Paraphernalia

Three Batavia High School students were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia March 22, Batavia police reports indicate. Batavia school officials learned about the drug paraphernalia and contacted Batavia High School police liaison officer Chris Potthoff, who cited the students at around 12:42 p.m. at the school, 1201 Main St. Because the students are juveniles and the incident was a first offense, the students are being cited under city ordinance rather than prosecuted in courts, Batavia Detective Sgt. Shawn Mazza said.  "We have an option of either referring the case to court or doing a formal station adjustment, and that's what we did in this case," Mazza said. Police Arrest 18-Year-Old for Drinking at Geneva High School

Geneva police arrested Alexander Koepke, 18, of Geneva on charges of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor around 8:25 a.m. March 20 at Geneva High School, 416 McKinley Ave., reports said. Underage drinking can be cited and fined under local ordinance or can be result in an arrest. Koepke has a court date of April 9 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.  A similar arrest took place at Batavia High School on March 8.     Patch reports on law enforcement activity in Geneva, using information provided by official agencies. Teens, Young Adults Cited for Underage Drinking in Geneva

Geneva police reports collected this week include two February incidents of underage drinking involving teens and young adults from Batavia, Geneva and Lake Zurich. Consumption by a Minor—Geneva police arrested Kyle Singer, 20, of Geneva on a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and cited four other minors for underage drinking around 12:56 a.m. Feb. 28 at a residence in the  400 block of East Side Drive, reports said. Cited under city ordinance were David Rafter, 18, of Batavia, Tyler Gorski, 19, of Geneva, Cailyn Glisson, 18, of Batavia and Alisa Bogdan, 18, of Batavia. I was thinking the same thing!! If he was charged with underage drinking and he was driving I thought you got charged with zero tolerance but apparently that's changed??? This really surprises me considering how hard the state of IL cracks down on people charged with a DUI. BATAVIA A 20-year-old North Auroran and a 19-year-old Batavian were each issued complaints for unlawful consumption of an alcoholic liquor. An officer made the arrests at 2:12 a.m. on Feb. 21, according to a police report. Jason R. Leannah, of the first block of Grace Street, North Aurora, was speeding more than 40 mph over the limit. He posted his driver's license for bond for the speeding offense. Philip R.C. Vermaas, of the 800 block of North Forest Avenue, Batavia, was issued a notice to appear in court for failure to wear a seat belt, according to the police report. Leannah and Vermaas were each released on personal recognizance for their individual drinking offenses. They were each given March 19 court dates for all charges. ST. …

NAPERVILLE A woman reported on Feb. 5 that someone had placed a used condom on her apartment door handle in the 200 block of East Bailey Road, police said. GLEN ELLYN Michael P. Dieterle, 20, of the 1300 block of East Elm Street, Wheaton, was arrested at 2:43 a.m. Jan. 27 in the 300 block of Alder Lane, police said. He was charged with public intoxication, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and public indecency. ST. CHARLES Steven J. Michalak, 42, of the 5N200 block of Hanson Road, called police at 12:24 a.m. Jan. 31 to request assistance. He was at XSport Fitness, 238 N. Randall Road, and the locks to his car doors had frozen. NAPERVILLE Two people were arrested early Jan. 27 after a brawl broke out inside a downtown Naperville bar, in which a stiletto shoe was used as a weapon, the Naperville Police Department said. Kenneth S. Davis, 21, of the 500 block of Donna Avenue in Aurora and Jessica M. Manchur, 27, of the 600 block of Grove Drive in Elk Grove Village, were charged with fighting, prohibited under a city ordinance, police said. Officers responded to a fight in progress on the second floor at Rizzo's bar, 6 W. Jefferson Ave., around 12:44 a.m. Jan. 27. As a result of the fight, one man was transported to the hospital after suffering facial lacerations. An employee was also injured after being "intentionally hit in the face by a stiletto style shoe," …

Public Intoxication, Criminal Damage to Property Under $300—Someone pried open the trunk of a Chrysler Sebring sometime between noon Jan. 3 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 4, reports said. The owner told police he observed the trunk to be slightly ajar when he left the Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Road, at around 11:30 a.m. Jan. 4, but he was unsure whether the damage occurred there. No items were missing from the trunk. The cost of repairing the damage was unknown at the time the report was filed.
