Boy Dies After Car Crash in Western Kane County Wednesday

The 11-year-old was a back-seat passenger, police said. Here's what happened.

An 11-year-old boy is dead after a fatal crash Wednesday night in western Kane County, the Sheriff's Office said. The boy, a Sycamore resident, was a back-seat passenger in a Chevy Cavalier that was rear-ended by a Ford Expedition sport-utility vehicle. The crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Route 64 west of Peplow Road in unincorporated Virgil Township, according to a Sheriff's Office statement. The driver of the Cavalier, 21-year-old Nicholas Weber, is the brother of the boy. Weber, his brother and an 18-year-old front seat passenger were transported to a hospital after the crash. Batavia Police Name Driver in Fatal Crash Friday on Randall Road

Police on Saturday morning identified the man who died after a two-car crash Friday on Randall Road. The man is 61-year-old David A. Schele of Sugar Grove, according to Batavia police. Schele died due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to a police press release issued Saturday. "Schele had been transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL," the release said. "The cause of the crash is still under investigation." Schele's vehicle and another vehicle with a male and female inside were involved in the crash, which occurred at Randall Road and McKee Street in Batavia. Update: Batavia police Saturday morning identified the man who died after the crash. One man was taken to a hospital and two other people were treated and released after a two-car crash late Friday afternoon on Batavia's west side. The serious crash occurred in the area of Randall Road and McKee Street. Batavia police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene at about 6:22 p.m., according to a police press release issued late Friday night. One male driver was taken to Delnor Hospital by Batavia paramedics, said Lt. Scott Hogan of the Batavia Fire Department. His condition was not immediately available Friday evening. Driver Charged With Aggravated DUI After Route 25 Crash, Passenger Critical

A 35-year-old man faces aggravated DUI and reckless driving charges in connection to Sunday's serious car crash on Route 25, police said. Victor M. Alvarez, of the 1400 block of Golden Oaks Parkway, Aurora, was driving northbound in a silver Nissan Murano crossover sport-utility vehicle that ran off the west side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to a North Aurora police statement. Police responded at 2:11 p.m. Sunday to the crash scene, located about 100 ft. north of Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers found the Murano with heavy passenger side damage. Man Airlifted After Route 25 Car Crash Sunday Afternoon

The vehicle went about 60 feet off the road, according to officials. Here's what happened.

UPDATE: The driver of the vehicle in this crash was taken to jail Feb. 11 and faces two felony charges. One man was airlifted to a hospital after a one-car crash Sunday afternoon on Route 25 south of Batavia, fire officials said. The crash occurred at the Red Oak Nature Center entrance on the 2300 block of South River Road (Route 25). Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at about 2:15 p.m., said Mike Klemencic, a North Aurora fire captain. The man was taken by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. His condition and identity were not immediately available. One female was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle rollover crash that snapped a utility pole Sunday on Batavia's west side, officials said. The incident occurred on Main Street between Feece Drive and Batavia Fire Station 2, said Randy Zies, Batavia Fire battalion chief. Station 2 is located at 1400 Main Street. One sport-utility or station wagon-type vehicle was involved in the crash. Emergency crews were initially dispatched to the scene at 11:27 a.m. Sunday. Police Name Driver in Fatal Car vs. Truck Crash on Route 38

Police Tuesday afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of a car vs. truck crash west of Elburn. The driver is 78-year-old Lorella Huff, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Huff was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry north on Francis Road. For reasons unknown, she did not stop at the stop sign for Route 38, the Sheriff's Office said. Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. Huff's car entered the intersection and struck a 2012 Hino box truck heading west on Route 38. Traffic on Route 38 does not have a stop sign. The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old man from Roselle, was uninjured. Huff was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Update: Route 38 was open again to traffic at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police released the name of the driver who died in the crash. A fatal crash late Tuesday morning shut down Route 38 in the Elburn area, police said. The crash occurred on Fabyan at Allen Drive, across from the Holmstad retirement community, according to reader reports. Police Name Driver in Fatal Route 25 Crash

The 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Here is his identity and how the crash happened.

Police Monday afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of a two-car crash on Route 25 near Batavia. The driver is 45-year-old Karl Smith of St. Charles, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Smith was driving a sport-utility vehicle on Route 25 along a curve when his vehicle spun out of control, crossing into opposite traffic, the Sheriff's Office said. Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash north of the Banbury Road intersection at about 9 a.m. Jan. 7. The SUV struck a Honda Accord that was traveling south on Route 25.
