NAPERVILLE A woman who moved out of an apartment in the 200 block of East Bailey Road two months ago returned to the apartment May 15 and asked the property manager if she could get her belongings. She was told by the property manager that the apartment was cleaned out and she was not allowed to enter, police said. A resident then saw the woman scale the balconies to get to her old apartment on the third floor, but she was not able to gain entry, police said. A Batavia resident tells police he sold a $14,000 wedding ring set over the Internet, and never received the payment.
Batavia police are investigating a case in which $14,000 in wedding rings were sold over the Internet and payment was never made. Police reports said a resident of the 500 block of South Harrison Street was fleeced out of a payment when the purchaser used a fraudulent PayPal account. Batavia Detective Sgt. Shawn Mazza said the case is still under investigation, but the victim apparently posted an Internet ad to sell a wedding-ring set. An unknown respondent agreed to pay the $14,000 "The rings were sent to the offender, and the offender never paid for the rings," Mazza said. Geneva police arrested two adults on charges of burglary and theft after an usual incident at Tilly's in the Geneva Commons. Michelle Grocesley, 21, of Aurora and David McCrary, 19, of Aurora each were arrested on charges of burglary and theft under $500 after an incident at around 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at the "surf, skate, motocross and lifestyle clothing, shoes and accessories" store at 514 Commons Drive. According to the Police Department synopsis sheet, a group of five people entered Tilly’s at around 1:50 p.m. One of the group, Grocesley, asked an employee if she could use the restroom but was told the restrooms were not available for public use.
