OMG PD: Magic-Marker Threat, Apartment Climbing

Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

NAPERVILLE A woman who moved out of an apartment in the 200 block of East Bailey Road two months ago returned to the apartment May 15 and asked the property manager if she could get her belongings. She was told by the property manager that the apartment was cleaned out and she was not allowed to enter, police said. A resident then saw the woman scale the balconies to get to her old apartment on the third floor, but she was not able to gain entry, police said. CLARENDON HILLS An apartment tenant on the 200 block of North Richmond Avenue wrote in magic marker on his door that "any trespassers will be shot," according to a police report. Batavian Says He Was Fleeced of $14,000 Wedding Ring Set Via Fraudulent PayPal Account

A Batavia resident tells police he sold a $14,000 wedding ring set over the Internet, and never received the payment.

Batavia police are investigating a case in which $14,000 in wedding rings were sold over the Internet and payment was never made. Police reports said a resident of the 500 block of South Harrison Street was fleeced out of a payment when the purchaser used a fraudulent PayPal account. Batavia Detective Sgt. Shawn Mazza said the case is still under investigation, but the victim apparently posted an Internet ad to sell a wedding-ring set. An unknown respondent agreed to pay the $14,000 "The rings were sent to the offender, and the offender never paid for the rings," Mazza said. Geneva Police Arrest 2 Adults for Burglary, Theft at Retail Store

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Geneva police arrested two adults on charges of burglary and theft after an usual incident at Tilly's in the Geneva Commons. Michelle Grocesley, 21, of Aurora and David McCrary, 19, of Aurora each were arrested on charges of burglary and theft under $500 after an incident at around 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at the "surf, skate, motocross and lifestyle clothing, shoes and accessories" store at 514 Commons Drive. According to the Police Department synopsis sheet, a group of five people entered Tilly’s at around 1:50 p.m. One of the group, Grocesley, asked an employee if she could use the restroom but was told the restrooms were not available for public use. Other members of the group caused a distraction, and Grocesley entered a back room. The store …

St. Charles Police Arrest Geneva Man for Theft at Meijer, Plus Other Crime Next Door

St. Charles police reports include vehicle burglary and theft charges that involve Geneva residents or may be of interest because of the proximity to Geneva.

Here is a roundup of recent St. Charles thefts and burglaries that may be of interest to Geneva residents.   FRIDAY, JAN. 18, 2013 Gregory P. Meehan, 25, of the 300 block of Colonial Circle, Geneva, was charged at 10:21 p.m. Jan. 18 at Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road, with retail theft. According to police, Meehan attempted to leave Meijer with 40 miscellaneous grocery items valued at $223.31. Initially, he complied with a loss-prevention officer at the store, but then left. He was running east in the parking lot east of Randall Road when police located and arrested him. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Feb. 21, 2013, court appearance. Some klept classical compact discs, a lifted Lexus license plate and a missing mailbox are among the alliterations found in this week's Geneva police blotter.  Vehicle Burglary—Someone took five classical music compact discs from the garage of a residence in the 500 block of South Street sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. Dec. 22, reports said. The CDs were valued at $50. According to reports, someone entered the detached garage through the unlocked side entrance door and took the discs from an unlocked vehicle. Theft Reports: Someone Steals Chef Roby Parking Sign, $5,000 in AIr Compressors

Two unusual thefts are reported in December's blotter from the Geneva Police Department.

  Theft reports in Geneva can range from the serious to the bizarre and often include a little of both. Such is the case with this recent collection from the Geneva Police Department. Theft Under $500—Someone stole a parking sign from the parking lot spot reserved for the All Chocolate Kitchen in parking lot located in the 200 block of James Street sometime between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12 The reserved parking stalls are on the southwest corner of the parking lot. One sign was removed from a metal post, which read “Chef Roby Parking Only.” Theft Over $300—Someone took two “Gailbreath” PM6FS 400-volt air compressors from the Geneva Commons management office, 602 Commons Drive, sometime between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Dec. 10, reports said. …

This one is the curious case of the inventory equipment stolen from inside a locked trunk, combining the mystery of how the break-in occurred as well as the challenge of unraveling the motive for stealing inventory-specific electronics. Theft Under $500—Someone took a bronze Mickey and Minnie Mouse lawn ornament from a home in the 2100 block of Fargo Boulevard sometime between 2 p.m. Sept. 8 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12, Geneva police reports said.
