Tanna Farms in Foreclosure? An Anti-MIll Creek Apartment Argument that Might've Worked!

The Tanna Farms Golf Club financial woes might have been a reason to argue against apartments in Mill Creek, after all.

The folks I’ve spoken with told me the handwriting was on the wall, but it still comes as somewhat of a surprise that the Tanna Farms Golf Club is headed into foreclosure. If you didn’t already know, the golf course in question sits in the southwest corner of the unincorporated Mill Creek subdivision made semi-infamous by a couple of my columns here. The legal papers were filed July 6 and, in another surprising twist, Shodeen Management is prominently named as a defendant. This interesting development makes one wonder whether his company or Kent Shodeen himself made some sort of personal guarantee on the project. The next court date is Sept. 28. But what really amazes me about this story is, while all those Mill Creekians we’re ranting, …

Jeff take a drive in Tanna Farms It is rather interesting that Shodeen has started several spec homes. Do you think he is telling those buyers about the change in plans? He certainly wasnt earlier this year.   more ›

Paul Ruby Foundation Hits $500,000 Donated to Parkinson's Research

The 2012 Concert for a Cure adds another $100,000 to the total the local foundation has raised for Parkinson's research.

This year’s Concert for a Cure, held on Aug. 28 at Tanna Farms, was hugely successful and enabled the Paul Ruby Foundation to raise this year’s goal of $100,000 for Parkinson’s research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center. Eleven bands provided entertainment for the more than 1,200 people who attended this year’s concert. More than 200 volunteers helped make the concert happen, providing invaluable help and ensuring everything ran smoothly the day of the concert. The Paul Ruby Foundation has now raised more than $500,000 for Parkinson’s research, and the board of the foundation will go to Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Oct. 24 to hear presentations on research projects that need funding…

Paul Ruby's Spectacular Concert for a Cure Is Saturday, Aug. 25, at Tanna Farms

Two stages, hours of live music, kids' fun—all are coming Saturday. We can only hope that a cure for Parkinson's Disease is coming soon, as well.

Paul Ruby never would have imagined that a desire to find a cure for Parkinson’s would have resulted in one of the biggest music festivals in the Fox Valley. Concert for a Cure, in its sixth year, has become a local favorite, attracting guests from all over the area and some of the best musicians locally, and this year, as well as nationally. This year, the foundation welcomes Miles Nielsen and The Rusted Heart Band. Nielsen, an Illinois native, is the son of Cheap Trick founder Rick Nielsen. Miles has been around music his entire life and is active on the national music scene. With two stages, the concert will provide hours of music entertainment. The other acts for the concert are: Chanson Du Chat, Dave Ramont, Dave Nelson & Friends, …

RG, when you pass away and instantly get to meet Satan, maybe you'll think back and remember writing that callous, psychotic rant I see posted above. You write like you're the devil himself. Please take your lame-ass to the airport and get on a plane and go to Iran, where they will welcome you with open arms and you'll fit in perfectly.   more ›

Former Chicago Bears Team up with the Paul Ruby Foundation to Tackle Parkinson’s Disease

Players involved with the project include John Janata, Bob Wetoska, Chuck Brown, Glen Kozlowski, Keith Van Horne, Shaun Gayle, Tom Hicks, Tom Waddle, Bob Asher, Ed O’Bradovich, Tom Thayer and Bob Thomas.

Several former Bears, including players from the NFL 1963 World Championship team and the 1985 Super Bowl championship team, have offered to get involved with a public service announcement being developed to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease and the efforts of the Paul Ruby Foundation. Paul Ruby, general manager of the Herrington Inn & Spa in Geneva, and Ed McCaskey of the Chicago Bears family cultivated a friendship after both were diagnosed with the degenerative neurological disease. When Paul reached out to McCaskey to enlist the help of the Bears recently, a request letter was drafted and mailed to former Bears players living in the Chicago area. Within the first few days following the mailing, 12 players agreed to be filmed.  “I …
