More dance celebrities coming to Geneva!

State Street Dance Studio, 9 N. Fourth St. in Geneva, will be welcoming Breaking Pointe’s Katie Martin from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, for a ballet master class. Martin, from Grayslake, attended Point Park University, and has danced with Boston Ballet and Ballet West. She just wrapped up filming for the hit docudrama on the CW, Breaking Pointe, following dancers from the leading Midwest ballet company, Ballet West. Breaking Pointe goes behind the stage curtain for an intense look at one of the most competitive ballet companies in the country, Ballet West, in Salt Lake City, Utah. State Street Dance Studio, located at 9. N. Fourth St. in Geneva, is unveiling a new Summer Intensive for its summer program from June 25 to Aug. 3. State Street has turned its Ballet Training Program into a Summer Intensive for students to center not only on Ballet but other focused dance techniques and styles. Our summer intensive is designed for the serious student who wishes to study both ballet and other focused dance styles and techniques. The six-week program will offer five levels that will help the student gain strength in various techniques and improve their skills all while providing a positive, focused, professional atmosphere in every class. The six couples competing in the 2012 Dancing with the Geneva Stars fundraiser are beginning their journey and learning their dance assignments this week. At 6 p.m. Sunday at State Street Dance Studio, 9 N. Fourth St., the dance teams will be assigned their instructors and dance routines, as well as have measurements taken for costumes and photos taken for upcoming publicity. The 2012 Dancing with the Geneva Stars fundraiser takes place on Feb. 4 at Eagle Brook Country Club the dance teams will be together in one place at one time prior to the event. The following dance teams for the Geneva Dancing with the Stars event on Feb. 4, 2012, at Eagle Brook Country Club were announced at 7 p.m. Saturday at the entertainment stage at Festival of the Vine in downtown Geneva. The couples will learn at an Oct. 16 meeting and photo shoot at State Street Dance Studio in Geneva which dance routine they will be performing.
