Wal-Mart, Von Maur Hit With $900 in Retail Thefts

The following information was supplied by the St. Charles Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

St. Charles police report two retail thefts and a shot at an unwarranted return purchase at a couple high-profile stores within a stone's throw of Geneva.   Retail Theft—Cheryl Marie Kasper, 46, of the 1500 block of Old Barn Court, Bartlett, was cited at 2 a.m. March 15 at Walmart, 150 Smith Road, with misdemeanor retail theft. According to the police report, Kasper made some purchases at the store but left without paying for $413.20 worth of merchandize that store employees saw her place into her purse. Retail Theft—Angela Marie Kratochvil, 19, of the 40W600 block of Carriage Court, was charged at 5:52 p.m. March 15 at Von Maur, 3810 E. Main St., with felony retail theft. Update: Missing St. Charles Woman Found in Michigan

The woman is OK and will be taken back to Illinois, police said.

An 89-year-old St. Charles woman that was reported missing Sunday morning was found in another state, according to media reports. Sara F. Mignin was in East Lansing, Mich. Monday afternoon asking for directions inside a Panda Express, the Daily Herald reports. Arrangements are being made to get Mignin back to Illinois, police spokesman Paul McCurtain told the Kane County Chronicle. Police began a missing adult investigation after Mignin was reported late for a visit with her daughter on Sunday morning. Authorities said she had no pressing health or cognitive issues. She recently seemed to have some forgetfulness. A couple at the East Lansing Panda Express heard her talking and she appeared to be confused, the Daily Herald's story said. …

Police Reports: It's not too bad so far this year, but retail thefts sometimes go along with the holidays.

You didn't think we'd get through the 2012 holiday season without at least one terrible overdone "'Tis the Season" headline, did you? Here's a roundup of of a couple recent retail thefts. Retail Theft—Someone took a Transparente brand, v-neck woman’s shirt from Sandra Webster, LTD, 209 W. State St., sometime between 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 4, Geneva police reports said. According to reports, the proprietor noticed someone leave the store and walk west. When the proprietor went to the rack where the shopper had been, she noticed an empty hanger on the rack. The shirt was valued at $195. The offender is described as a white female, about 50 years old, 5-feet, 6-inches tall with an average build wearing a black sweater with a white shirt…

St. Charles Woman Charged, 65 Teens Nabbed at Party

East Side homeowner faces fine, four juveniles charged with underage drinking, and parents of 65 others were called to come get their children.

A St. Charles homeowner faces a fine of as much as $500, four juveniles have been cited with underage drinking and scores of teens are dealing with the consequences after police called their parents to come get them after officers broke up a Nov. 2 party on the city’s East Side. Lisa J. Lorenzini, 50, of the 200 block of Persimmon Drive, was cited with social hosting, a local ordinance punishable by a fine of at least $250 and as much as $500, St. Charles police said. Four St. Charles teens, ages 15, 16, 17 and 17, were charged with possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor, police said. Charges Pending in Sunday Crash on Route 31

One driver is in critical condition; driver and to passengers of second vehicle were treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.

St. Charles police on Monday said charges are still pending in the crash late Sunday morning that injured four people and shut down Route 31 for more than three hours. Driver Luis Pina, of the 400 block of New York Street, Aurora, was reported in critical condition after he had to be extricated from his vehicle and then transported to Delnor Hospital, police said Monday. Manuel Nunez, 37, , of the 70 block of West Old Indian Trail Road, Aurora, and his passengers Carmen Arevalo, 52, and Emillo Arevalo, 54, of the 400 block of Wilder, Aurora, were transported to Delnor also for treatment of less serious injuries, authorities said. Batavia Man Charged With Burglary at Pottawatomie Golf Course in St. Charles

Arrest came during investigation of break-in to Pottawatomie Park Golf Course Club House.

A Batavia man is in custody on multiple burglary charges after police were called to investigate an alarm early Wednesday at the Pottawatomie Park Golf Course Club House, St. Charles police announced in a release issued the same afternoon. Taylor B. Erickson, 19, of 714 Walnut St., Batavia, was taken into custody at approximately 2 a.m. on two counts of burglary, a Class 2 felony; and one count of possession of burglary tools, a Class 4 felony. He was awaiting an initial court appearance to have bail set at the time the police department issued its release. St. Charles police reports form July 31 to Aug. 5 include several incidents involving or of interest to Geneva readers.

St. Charles police reports include the arrests of a couple of Genevans, as well as some interesting cases that Geneva folks might find relevant—from retail thefts to battery of a police officer to identity theft. Here are some of the updates:   SUNDAY, AUG. 5 Gilbert Rangel, 40, of the 100 block of north 3rd Street, Geneva, was charged at 12:40 p.m. at State and north Second streets with driving on a suspended/revoked license and expired vehicle registration. He posted $200 and was released with an order to appear in court Sept. 13. Christopher W. 19-Year-Old Accused of Taking Flat-Screen TV's From St. Charles Target Store

Police nab a 19-year-old Warrenville man accused of sneaking flat-screen TVs and other items out a fire exit in December.

St. Charles police arrested Jacob Dean Reed, 19, of Warrenville on May 31 on charges of retail theft for an incident that took place back in December, according to police reports. Police say Reed and a female companion were seen several times at the Super Target store on East Main Street. Reed is accused of taking several items from the store, including two flat-screen television sets, out a fire exit in December. An arrest warrant was issued, but Reed was not apprehended until he appeared in court for an unrelated incident, when the outstanding arrest warrant was discovered.    Patch reports on law enforcement activity in our town, using information provided by official agencies. Driver Caused 'Deadly Force Situation' Sunday on Randall Road: Reports

The Kane County Chronicle reports of an alleged drunken driver who scared a lot of people Sunday by veering in and out of traffic on Randall Road, starting in Geneva and continung in St. Charles.

A South Elgin man was charged with driving under the influence, battery, obstructing justice, illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and improper lane use after a high-speed chase on Sunday afternoon, May 20, the Kane County Chronicle reports. According to the Chronicle's Ashley Rhodebeck, St. Charles police were in a "deadly force" situation when they arrested Prince Skariah, 38, on the shoulder of Randall Road, just south of Silver Glen Road. Police responded to numerous calls of an Acura TL weaving and crossing over the yellow lines into oncoming traffic. 2 Cited for Public Urination in St. Charles

St. Charles police reports included two cases of citations under local ordinance that prohibit public urination. Shockingly, both incidents involved 23-year-olds. Caught Midstream After spotting 23-year-old Bartholomew J. Curtian, 754 Cutler St., urinating on the sidewalk of west 4th Street on May 5, officers cited Curtian with urinating in public. According to the report officers waited until Curtian was finished before approaching him. Celebrating a Playoff Win  Officers observed Thomas S. Coker, 913 S 8th St., and a friend enter the alleyway next to Magoo’s Tavern and begin urinating. Coker, 23, was cited with urinating in public. According to the police report Coker told officers he was celebrating a Chicago Bulls playoff game win. …
