This week's city of Geneva newsletter contains some very good news you can use, if you want to know the schedules of work being done around town. If you're interested in the Kautz Road and Route 38 grade seperation, for example, you can look here to find out that building removal is happening today (Friday, Dec. 7), Monday and Tuesday. The city provides a "two week look-ahead" of work on that key intersection. The website offers information on everything from tree trimming to sidewalks and curb work to hydrant flushing. Sidewalk Repairs Can Ruin Driveways—Here's What St. Charles Is Doing About It

St. Charles officials continue to draft driveway restoration policy.

Stamped driveways are proving to be a snag for St. Charles officials looking to develop a driveway restoration policy for the city. Driveway restoration occurs after the city must perform sidewalk repairs that overlap a private driveway. Repairing the driveway itself can lead to some challenges, particularly if the existing driveway material is specialized, such as made from pavers or a stamped concrete. St. Charles staff showed a slide of an asphalt driveway that was repaired, with a visible seam at connecting the repaired area to the original portion of the driveway. Several aldermen questioned whether or not the repair could have been done without such a visible scar on the driveway.   The city is obligated to leave residents with a …
