Randall Road Retail Thefts: Arrest at Kohl's; $1,300 Worth of Stolen Cell Phones From Commons

Randall Road retail thefts collected this week from Batavia and Geneva police departments include an arrest and a lead that includes a photo of the suspected offender.   Retail Theft at Kohl's  Batavia police arrested Jamie L. Hummel, 21 of Batavia on charges of retail theft from Kohl’s, 251 N. Randall Road, according to a report filed around 6:34 p.m. May 10. Hummel was observed taking an item of clothing, two cosmetics and two perfumes valued at $148 and left without paying for the merchandise, reports said. She posted $150 bond and has a court date of June 11.   $1,300 Worth of Stolen Cellphones Someone took two Samsung Galaxy cellphones—with a combined value of $1,298—from HH Gregg, 710 Commons Drive, around 4 p.m. April 27, Geneva …

Wal-Mart, Von Maur Hit With $900 in Retail Thefts

St. Charles police report two retail thefts and a shot at an unwarranted return purchase at a couple high-profile stores within a stone's throw of Geneva.   Retail Theft—Cheryl Marie Kasper, 46, of the 1500 block of Old Barn Court, Bartlett, was cited at 2 a.m. March 15 at Walmart, 150 Smith Road, with misdemeanor retail theft. According to the police report, Kasper made some purchases at the store but left without paying for $413.20 worth of merchandize that store employees saw her place into her purse. Retail Theft—Angela Marie Kratochvil, 19, of the 40W600 block of Carriage Court, was charged at 5:52 p.m. March 15 at Von Maur, 3810 E. Main St., with felony retail theft. 98 T-Shirts Taken From Randall Road Hollister

To borrow from the marketing campaign, it sounds like an inspired theft for Dudes and Bettys.

If you checked out the Hollister website on Friday, you might have noticed a "secret sale" going on for T-shirts of all styles. Prices of the sale items ranged form $8.75 to $29.75, and a lot were 60 percent off. Someone apparently got away with 100 percent off from the Geneva Commons Hollister back on Feb. 23—a savings of about $1,700. An unknown person or persons took 98 T-shirts from Hollister, 314 Commons Drive, sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Feb. 23, Geneva police reports said. An employee and a store manager told police the shirts were on several shelves near the front of the store. The employees checked inventory control to determine that 98 T-shirts were missing. The value of the shirts is estimated at $1,700.   …

Woman Arrested for Retail Theft After Return Visit to Kohl's

St. Charles police reports from Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.

Robin A. Appelhans, 52, of the 100 block of Lakeside Drive, was charged at 5:23 p.m. Feb. 19 with retail theft at Kohl’s, 3840 E. Main St., St. Charles. According to the report, a loss-prevention officer said Appelhans was seen on Feb. 7 entering a dressing room with a box containing a $150 coffee maker. When she left the dressing room, she then placed the box back on the shelf and left the store. Loss-prevention personnel checked the box and learned it was empty, but Appelhans already had left the store. At 3:30 on Feb. 19, loss-prevention personnel saw Appelhans return to the store and take several items of clothing into a dressing room. After she left, a loss-prevention officer entered the dressing room and found some price tags that …

The retail theft was at Jobella on Campbell Street, one of two retail thefts in this week's Geneva police reports.

Geneva Police Arrest 2 Adults for Burglary, Theft at Retail Store

Geneva police arrested two adults on charges of burglary and theft after an usual incident at Tilly's in the Geneva Commons. Michelle Grocesley, 21, of Aurora and David McCrary, 19, of Aurora each were arrested on charges of burglary and theft under $500 after an incident at around 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at the "surf, skate, motocross and lifestyle clothing, shoes and accessories" store at 514 Commons Drive. According to the Police Department synopsis sheet, a group of five people entered Tilly’s at around 1:50 p.m. One of the group, Grocesley, asked an employee if she could use the restroom but was told the restrooms were not available for public use. St. Charles Police Arrest Geneva Man for Theft at Meijer, Plus Other Crime Next Door

St. Charles police reports include vehicle burglary and theft charges that involve Geneva residents or may be of interest because of the proximity to Geneva.

Here is a roundup of recent St. Charles thefts and burglaries that may be of interest to Geneva residents.   FRIDAY, JAN. 18, 2013 Gregory P. Meehan, 25, of the 300 block of Colonial Circle, Geneva, was charged at 10:21 p.m. Jan. 18 at Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road, with retail theft. According to police, Meehan attempted to leave Meijer with 40 miscellaneous grocery items valued at $223.31. Initially, he complied with a loss-prevention officer at the store, but then left. He was running east in the parking lot east of Randall Road when police located and arrested him. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Feb. 21, 2013, court appearance. Geneva Man Charged With Stealing PlayStation 3 From Game Stop

Two cases of pre-Christmas retail thefts were included in this week's collection of Geneva police reports, including the arrest of a 31-year-old Geneva man on charges related to the theft of a Playstation 3. Retail Theft Over $300—Geneva police arrested Aaron Feltgen, 31, of Geneva on charges of retail theft after an incident at around 9:45 p.m. Dec. 22 at Game Stop, 1492-N South Randall Road, reports said. According to the complaint in the 16th Circuit Court, Feltgen took a Sony PlayStation 3 60GB with a value of more than $300. Feltgen has a court date of Jan. 8 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Police Reports: It's not too bad so far this year, but retail thefts sometimes go along with the holidays.

You didn't think we'd get through the 2012 holiday season without at least one terrible overdone "'Tis the Season" headline, did you? Here's a roundup of of a couple recent retail thefts. Retail Theft—Someone took a Transparente brand, v-neck woman’s shirt from Sandra Webster, LTD, 209 W. State St., sometime between 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 4, Geneva police reports said. According to reports, the proprietor noticed someone leave the store and walk west. When the proprietor went to the rack where the shopper had been, she noticed an empty hanger on the rack. The shirt was valued at $195. The offender is described as a white female, about 50 years old, 5-feet, 6-inches tall with an average build wearing a black sweater with a white shirt…

Saint Medallions, Jewelry Stolen From Display Cases of Third Street Stores

More than $1,400 in medallions and jewelry are taken in separate incidents, from display cases in Pax Vobiscum and Irish Sisters.

You have to wonder if there's a special ring in Dante's Inferno for anyone who steals saint medallions or Celtic pendants during the Christmas season. Two separate incidents in this week's Geneva Police Department reports involved someone taking valuables from display cases of Third Street businesses. At least one of the display cases was confirmed to have been locked. Retail Theft—Someone took seven silver saint medallions valued at $49.99 each from Pax Vobiscum in the Berry House shops, 227 S. Third St., sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Geneva police reports said. The medallions were kept in a locked display case. They included Saint Camillus, Saint Catherine, two Saint Denis, a Saint David, Saint Jason and one other unknown …
