Police Officer Oscar Maldonado joins the city of Geneva Police Department.
Geneva's newest police officer served with U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq and later worked for a private security company, where he guarded CEOs and celebrities. Geneva introduced Police Officer Oscar Maldonado at Monday night's City Council Committee of the Whole meeting. In addition to his interesting past professional life, Maldonado is engaged to be married and was joined by his lovely wife for the swearing-in ceremony you see here. They are hoping to get married in 2014. "I said to her as soon as I get picked up by a police department I can finally start planning the wedding full force," he said Monday. Maldonado, 29, is a White Sox and Bears fan. He's off to training at the police academy and is expected to start sometime in June.
The city welcomes Chris Reading to the Geneva police force.
Geneva welcomed a new police officer to the force Monday at the City Council meeting. Christopher Reading is a Geneva High School grad who was "extended a conditional offer of employment by the Police Department in August and has since successfully passed the pre-employment screening process," Police Chief Steve Mexin said in his monthly report. "Mr. Reading is now scheduled to begin employment with the Geneva Police Department as a sworn police officer on Sept. 19," Mexin said. "Mr. Reading will be filling one of the three vacancies that the PD currently has in its Patrol Division. This is a budgeted position." Say "hi" to Christopher when you get a chance and take a look at his swearing-in ceremony here.
