The first meteor shower of 2013 hits high note early Friday.

The Quadrantid meteor shower is named for an extinct constellation, but the shooting stars that seem to sprout from it still arrive yearly, and the opening of the 2013 show began overnight Jan. 1, into Jan. 2. But the heavenly show peaks in the wee hours Friday, Jan. 4, amid a Geneva sky that should be clearing after mostly to partly cloudy conditions through much of Thursday, according to WeatherBug.com. The Quadrantids is one of the lesser-known meteor showers of the year, but that doesn't mean it's anything less than spectacular. Take a look at this Quadrantids meteor shower video or these pictures of the Quadrantids. One of the best, if not the best place to watch meteor showers in Geneva is Peck Farm Park. Police Reports: Fast-Paced Car-Burglary Spree at Peck Farm Park

Someone breaks vehicle windows, snatched purses in a 15-minute frenzy in parking lot.

It took all of 15 minutes, and before it was done, three vehicles had broken windows and four purses were snatched with a total value of about $1,600. This is in what's usually a safe and sane place out in the country—the parking lot of bucolic Peck Farm Park. Three police-blotter items collected Tuesday at the Geneva Police Department tell the story. Burglary from Motor Vehicle—Someone broke the rear passenger-side window of a minivan parked in the parking lot of Peck Farm Park, 4038 Kaneville Road, sometime between 6:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 27, and removed the owner’s purse and her sister’s purse from the back seat, reports said. The value of the purse and contents of the driver’s purse was estimated at $328. The value of the sister’s …

This article is proof you shouldn't believe everything you read. The second car was another minivan, not a Rav 4. Also, my purse was hidden and couldn't been seen by looking through the windows. I don't think people are stupid enough to leave the purse in plain view. My car was the second one and they couldn't even get the value of my purse and it's contents correct! Try $1000   more ›
