I think it’s time to employ my favorite column overture one more time. Good grief, people! Get a grip! It was just a presidential election. By the sound of some your Patch voices, you’d a thunk they just cancelled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. We’ll start with the pro-president folks who, even though in the vast Geneva minority, were equally as annoying as the haters. Yes! I too was happy the president prevailed, but only because obstructionism should never be rewarded and four more years threw a slew of reality-challenged folks into complete conniptions. But you can dispense with all the “praise Gods” and blessing the president stuff because, rest assured, the Big Guy doesn’t have time for presidential politics. He’s far too busy rooting for …

Tri-Cities Election Day Updates—Here's the Latest

5 p.m.— Batavia-area voters are moving through the polls quickly and painlessly. Here's what some of them had to say on the Batavia Patch Facebook page: Vicki Dvorak Islely: "I voted at lunchtime. Only a couple people were ahead of me. No long delays. Was basically in and out." State's Attorney's Election Complaint Line Open for Nov. 6 General Election

Kane County voters who observe or experience voting problems or irregularities during the Nov. 6 general election should call the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office to report the problems. The Election Complaint Line will be available from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 6, 2012. Anyone who experiences or witnesses any possible illegal election activity, such as electioneering, illegally placed campaign signs or denial of voting rights at any of Kane County’s 228 voting precincts should call the hotline at (630) 208-5328. The hotline will be staffed by representatives of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
