This is the sixth anniversary of the day John Spira last was seen at his West Chicago business.
He was a brother, a husband, a St. Charles blues guitarist and the owner of a West Chicago business. And he’s been missing for fox six years. Last seen about 7 p.m. Feb. 23, 2007, John Spira’s disappearance left friends and family reeling and has baffled police ever since. Arizona attorney Stephanie Spira McNeil, Spira’s sister, has not given up on the search for her brother, although with time she has come to believe he was murdered. She told the Huffington Post in November, saying the years without knowing what happened, why he was killed and how, and where he is now have made the loss that much more difficult. Stephanie McNeil won't give up searching for her brother.
Stephanie McNeil, brother of missing St. Charles resident John Spira, has hired a private detective to investigate his disappearance, according to a Kane County Chronicle report. According to the report McNeil hired Matthew Hale, of the Naperville-based Illinois Investigative Solutions Inc., to look into his disappearance. Since Spira's disappearance five years ago, McNeil has not given up hope in finding out what happened to her brother. Last year she appealed to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to force the DuPage County Sheriff to open her missing brother's case file. McNeil, who grew up in Winnetka but now lives in Phoenix, first asked the DuPage County Sheriff's Department to share information about her brother's four-year-old …

Sister of missing man still awaits more details about the reportedly ongoing investigation by DuPage County Sheriff's Office.
The wife of a missing St. Charles man reportedly died more than six months ago, which has left some unanswered questions for at least one member of his family. The wife of John Spira, Suzanne Spira, was found dead in her Orchard Park, NY, apartment on Oct. 30. His sister, Stephanie McNeil, said she learned of the death from an associate of Suzanne. Kevin Montgomery, the spokesman for the Erie County, NY, Health Department, confirmed Suzanne's death but said he could provide no further details.
