Quintin D. Mullen, 22, faces charges that police say was "not a random attack."
A suspect has been arrested and charges have been filed in the March 1 home invasion and shooting incident in the 200 block of Laurel Drive, North Aurora police report. Detectives identified Quintin D. Mullen, 22, of the 1700 block of Felten Road, Aurora as a suspect and then issued an “Attempt To Locate” bulletin to area police agencies on Monday night. Mullen was arrested by officers of the Aurora Police Department around 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the 2300 block of Ogden Avenue, Aurora. Aurora police turned Mullen over to North Aurora police, and he was held overnight at the North Aurora Police Department. Police are in search of two men who forced their way into a North Aurora duplex Friday afternoon, held the residents at gunpoint and shot a dog three times. The home invasion occurred at a duplex in the 200 block of Laurel Drive on the village's east side, according to a police statement. North Aurora police officers were dispatched to the block at about 1:21 p.m. for a dog that had been shot. "Upon arrival, officers discovered that a home invasion had taken place," the statement said. "Officers learned that the residents heard a knock at the door and, before they could open the door, the suspects kicked the door open and displayed a gun." Three residents of an apartment where a home invasion took place earlier this month now face drug charges, police announced today. Two of the three men charged were shot during an Oct. 2 home invasion at their apartment, located on the 100 block of South River Road in North Aurora near the Fox River. "The investigation has determined that this home invasion was drug-related," a North Aurora Police Department statement said. "No further information is available at this time as to the offenders in the home invasion." Multiple police departments in the Tri-Cities on Tuesday assisted with a day-long investigation into a home invasion and shooting in North Aurora. The photos on this page illustrate some of the police work completed outside a building on the 100 block of South River Road (Rt. 25 south of Batavia). The investigation findings are not public, but what police did reveal was that two men were shot by two other men in one of the building's apartments. Police were called to the scene at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday. Crime scene investigators took photos and marked spots along the ground outside a building. The two people shot during Tuesday's home invasion in North Aurora survived, police said. A 22-year-old man was shot in the arm and another man, 23, was shot in the chest, according to a North Aurora Police Department press release. Officers were dispatched at 7:05 a.m. to an apartment building in the 100 block of South River Road (Rt. 25 south of Batavia) for the shooting. Officers discovered that the shooting took place in one of the apartments and that there were two men with gunshot wounds. The men were conscious and able to exit the building on their own. Two people were shot during a home invasion on the 100 block of South River Road—Route 25, one block south of Butterfield Road near the Fox River—sometime before 8 a.m., according to an alert message from North Aurora police. Condition reports on the people shot were not immediately available. The suspects are described as two Hispanic men, each about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. Suspects arrested for beating up a former boyfriend and his new girlfriend.
An Elburn woman and an acquaintance broke into the St. Charles home of her former boyfriend early Sunday morning and battered the victim and his new girlfriend, according to a police report. Officers arrested Caitlyn R. Knight, 21, 4N216 Citation Lane, Elburn, and Octacia L. Williams, 23, 312 County Line Road, Maple Park. Each were charged with two counts of home invasion, a Class X felony punishable from six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The 28-year-old male victim living in the apartment told officers he and his new girlfriend were asleep in his bedroom when they were awakened by Knight striking them with a set of keys and her fists. Mario Bocanegra, 30, agrees to a 7 1/2-year prison sentence for a December incident involving an ex-girlfriend.
A St. Charles man has agreed to prison time after pleading guilty to home invasion. Mario Bocanegra, 30, who is formerly of Elburn, made the deal with Kane County prosecutors on Thursday. He will spend 7 1/2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for his part in a home invasion from last year. In April, Bocanegra pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. He was indicted earlier that month on charges of attempted murder, home invasion, unlawful restraint and domestic battery. In December, Bocanegra forced his way into an ex-girlfiend’s St. Charles home, according to authorities. Once inside, he grabbed her and threw her to the floor.
