St. Charles Police Investigating Hate Crime in Sports Pub Parking Lot

The investigation has been under way since three people were battered Jan. 6 along Route 38.

St. Charles police are investigating what is being described as a hate crime after two men and a woman were battered during an incident that began in the parking lot of a Lincoln Highway sports pub. Police spokesman Paul McCurtain said Friday the incident remains under investigation, and declined to discuss the nature of the hate crime. The FBI defines hate crime as any crime that is motivated by a bias or prejudice, usually related to race, sexual orientation, religion and other factors. In the St. Charles incident, police responded at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 6 to the 2000 block of Lincoln Highway (Route 38) to a report of a battery against two males and a female.
