Register Now for the Largest Music Competition in Illinois

Granquist Music Competition is June 22, 2013, but registration starts now!

Registration has begun for the Granquist Music Competition, the largest music competition in the state of Illinois. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Geneva Community High School, 416 McKinley Avenue. Teachers are encouraged to enroll students as early as possible. Online applications must be received by May 24 and mailed applications must be postmarked by May 20. This is the 43rd year of the competition established in 1970 by music educator Herb Granquist. We are pleased that the Granquist family is the coordinators of the competition.  All contestants will be classified by instrument, age and years of instruction. A first, second and third place is awarded in each class.   Solos, duets and ensembles are all …

The Saturday highlights for Swedish Days 2012 include the 3-on-3 basketball tournament, the Wandering Endorfin, Radio Disney crew, DancEncounter, Geneva's Got Talent finals and Hi Infidelity.

Deadlines to Participate in Swedish Days Events Near

Three different ways to be a part of the 2012 Swedish Days Festival presented by Cadence Health.

May 15—Geneva’s Got Talent applications must be received in our office by this date. Only the first 75 applications received will be invited to audition on May 20 for a chance to perform during Swedish Days and win $1,000 First Place cash prize. May 15—Represent your organization and/or business in the 63rd Swedish Days Parade on June 24. There is no application fee. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be issued a line up number. This parade draws tens of thousands from all over Illinois and beyond.  June 1—The Granquist Music Competition, a tradition started by founder Herb Granquist, continues on as the Granquist family are the new coordinators for this year. The Granquist competition in Geneva promotes music performance, competition and education for serious students of  music. It is presented as part of the Geneva, IL, Swedish Days Festival presented by Cadence Health. The 42nd  Annual Music Competition will be on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Geneva Community High School, 416 McKinley Ave. This year, the Granquist family is the new coordinator of the competition.  Students are grouped by instrument, age and years of instruction.
