Get your tickets now. Who do you think will win the matchup?
The Batavia-Geneva boys basketball game always is a great rivalry. But it will have a great venue, as well, on Jan. 21. Geneva High School’s boys’ basketball team will play Batavia High School at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. Antioch vs. Lakes game wins NBC-5's challenge for game-day destination.
I thought it was a lock. Really. NBC-5? Home of hometown hero, Matt Rodewald ? How could we miss? Well, apparently, there are a lot of folks in Antioch and Lakes, who have nothing better to do with their time than to click away at the computer. (Wait a minute. That's what I do all day!) At any rate, the sad news is that—when the cutoff came at noon Wednesday—the Batavia-Geneva game was just short in the NBC-5 game-day destination challenge. This just in from Matt: "Antioch won by 100 votes — 0.6 percent of 15,445 votes." Talk about a travesty. If you go to the poll now, Geneva/Batavia has more votes than Lakes/Anitoch. You'll also see some weird selections, but that's OK. Check out our previous story for background and links.
