The Vikings finish 4-5, but in many ways, it's a season to remember, learn from and cherish.
While a lot of other teams in Patchland are celebrating their playoff berths and figuring out the match-ups along the way, Geneva players, coaches and fans are, for the first time in a lot of years, figuring what to do with the extra time off. Finishing 4-5 is an unusual feeling for the Vikings, who had been riding the wave of a winning record since 2003. "It's refeshing in some ways," coach Rob Wicinski said after the last football game of 2012. Refreshing? Did he say, "refreshing"? Yes, refreshing. And something to be proud of. Hard to say the words "must win," because every game is a must-win. But 0-3 is territory the Vikings haven't seen in many a year.
This one isn't likely to make any "game of the week" headlines on the sports pages of Chicago-area newspapers, but tonight's Geneva-Larkin contest is huge for the Vikings. Miller, a junior, is expected to step into the QB spot for the Vikings, but a number of players are holding up their …

A stingy Wheaton North defense and some big plays help the Falcons to victory at Rexilius Field.
Wheaton North used a powerful passing attack, solid running game and tough defense to hand the Geneva sophomore football team its first loss of the season Friday night at Rexilius Field in Wheaton. After a tied first quarter, the Falcons pulled away to win 38-6. The game was still close after Wheaton North scored but missed 2-point conversion attempt with 3:40 left in the half. But the Falcons got the ball back on downs and scored in the final minutes on a double pass play that took the wind out of the Vikings' sails and gave the Falcons an 18-6 advantage at halftime. Wheaton North scored again with 8:20 left in the third quarter on a 15-yard pass from quarterback JP Forcucci to Abel Abay, to make it 24-6. The Falcons sealed the deal with …
