Many former employees of Geneva Hardware are helping out with store liquidation sales.
Big signs—we're talking really big, and plenty of them—are posted today outside and inside the Geneva Hardware store on West State Street, just east of Randall Road in St. Charles. A staff member said he couldn't comment, but a press release would be coming shortly from the liquidator regarding the store's re-opening and holiday sales. One piece of good news for local folks is that there are a number of familiar faces at the store, former employees who are working at Geneva Hardware for the balance of the store's life. With no announcement except for a sign in the window, Geneva Hardware closes Aug. 1.
Geneva Hardware's short-lived move to the former Dominick's location in St. Charles ended Monday when the store closed its doors. A sign in the window says simply, "Thank you for your support. We regret to inform you that our store is closed. For more information, call 630-232-2245 and leave a message." The phone message says Geneva Hardware will try to complete any outstanding screen repairs, sharpening or special orders. "We'll pick up messages on this line for a period of time and get back with you with any answers or arrangements," the message says. "Thank you for your support and we apologize the the inconvenience and the times we are dealing with." The hardware store moved from the strip mall at 617 W. State St. to its new location …
