Geneva Garden Club Scholarship Winner

Geneva grad, Ethan Peterson is the 2013 recipient.

The Geneva Garden Club has chosen Ethan S. Peterson as their 2013 Scholarship recipient.   Ethan is a Geneva High School graduate and currently attends Eastern Illinois University.  He will graduate in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration.  Ethan has “stuck to his true roots’ working summers for the Geneva Park District and the Mill Creek Golf Club getting hands-on landscaping experience. His goals include helping to conserve and protect the natural habitats of endangered animals in our National parks ultimately at Yellowstone National Park.  Ethan was recognized at the club's annual luncheon in May.

Garden Club Park Reopens Along Banks of Fox River

The club rededicates the garden park on the west bank of the Fox River with 1,000 perennials, many from club members' own gardens.

On Oct. 13, 2012, the Geneva Garden Club held a ceremony/ribbon cutting to rededicate Garden Club Park, located on the west bank of the Fox River along North River Lane. The rededication for Garden Club Park was in honor of the transformation accomplished by the Geneva Garden Club in replanting the park with nearly 1,000 perennials over the last year, many from their own gardens. The GenevaGarden Club performed this project in cooperation with the Geneva Park Districtand the City of Geneva. The ceremony ended with the ribbon cutting by Geneva Alderman and Beautification Committee Chairman Dorothy Flanagan, Geneva Park Board President Susan VanderVeen and Geneva Garden Club President Julie Maturo.   SOURCE: Geneva Garden Club

Geneva Garden Club Cookbook Wins National Award

"From Garden to Table" cookbook wins National Garden Club's first place.

The Geneva Garden Club is earning national recognition. The club's cookbook, From Table to Garden, just won the National Garden Club's First Place Award—the top honor in a nationwide competition.  To date the cookbook has sold 950 copies with $19,000 of generated revenue and a $9,000 profit to the Garden Club. Cookbooks are available for purchase at a cost of $20 by calling Julie at 630-208-7102.
