18 Contestants Make the Cut for 'Geneva's Got Talent' Semi-Finalist Round

Eighteen contestants will perform at Geneva's Got Talent Semi-Finals in June during Swedish Days.

Eighteen will be the lucky number for one winner of the 2013 Geneva's Got Talent competition. Also, 1,000—as in 1,000 smackers, 1,000 clams, $1,000 cash. Auditions were held May 18, when contestants vied for a chance to perform at the semi-finals during the Swedish Days Festival presented by Cadence Health. Eighteen semifinalists won the chance to perform and win your applause when online voting begins June 18. The talent level was extremely high, according to judges Heather Klaus, Dan Yotz, Eric Elftmann and Steve Lord. These contestants will compete at 6:30 p.m., June 19, 2013, on Geneva's Central Stage. Last Chance: Deadlines to Participate in Swedish Days Events Near

There are several ways to be part of this hometown festival.

Deadlines are fast approaching for participation in a number of popular Swedish Days events, including the Geneva's Got Talent competition, the Swedish Days parade and the renowned Granquist Music Competition.   May 8 — Geneva’s Got Talent applications must be received in the Geneva Chamber of Commerce office by this date. Only the first 75 applications received will be invited to audition on May 18 for a chance to perform during Swedish Days and win the $1,000 first-place cash prize. You do not need to live in Geneva to apply. May 15 — Your organization and/or business should be represented in the 64th Swedish Days Festival, presented by Cadence Health parade on June 24. From May 1 to 31, 2013, snap a picture of yourself, your friends and/or family, holding the new 2013 Geneva Visitor’s Guide, in front of a Geneva business that is listed in the Visitor’s Guide. Post it to the Geneva Chamber Facebook page at Geneva, IL—Chamber of Commerce & Tourism with a brief description of where you are and why you chose that location. All who join in the fun will be entered in a random drawing, to be held after May 31, for $50 in Geneva Gift Certificates. Visitor’s Guides may be picked up at the Geneva Chamber office, 8 S. Spots are filling up quickly for a chance to win $1,000 in Geneva Chamber’s Geneva’s Got Talent competition. Only the first 75 applicants will be invited to audition on May 18.  Semifinalists & finalists will perform on Central Stage during the Swedish Days Festival presented by Cadence Health. The judges for the auditions, semifinals and finals have extensive & impressive experience in all areas of entertainment. Four new judges will be available for each round of the competition. Geneva's Gigantic Citywide Garage Sale Is This Weekend

There will be bargains everywhere in Geneva on April 26 and 27.

The Geneva Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a citywide garage sale in Geneva the weekend of April 26 and 27, 2013—from 8 a.m. to  4 p.m. both days. Participants will have their address and key items listed on a map to be distributed to key locations in town, posted on the Geneva Chamber of Commerce website and available on the Garage Sale Rover mobile app. Participants will also receive a garage sale sign to post near their home.   The Geneva Chamber has done all the advertising, marketing, printing and distributing of material; including receiving special permission from the City of Geneva to post garage sale signs at key locations in Geneva.   For more information, contact the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, 8 S. ^^Not sure what is wrong with it, BUT you could check out you tube for ideas on how to fix it. I have been given a couple of these and with a little manuvering of wires and a little money for a battery (go to a batteries+ NOT walmart/toys r us for a cheaper version) they are usually repairable. Geneva Bank & Trust Celebrates Opening With Ribbon-Cutting

The former St. Charles Bank & Trust is open in the building west of the Pure Oil building drive-through.

Geneva Bank & Trust is open for business and celebrated March 21 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The former St. Charles Bank & Trust is located at 514 W. State St., just west of the distinctive and historic Pure Oil building, which now serves as its drive through.  City of Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns and Geneva Chamber of Commerce President Jean Gaines held the ribbon along with Geneva Bank & Trust employees, President Tom Hansen, Vice President and Bank Manager Darla Yhost, Assistant Bank Manager Debbie Fee and CEO Rich Davis. The Pure Oil Building has been nominated for a position on the National Register of Historic Places. Nice to have a single picture of all the people that wanted to tear down the Pure Oil building. They'll never see a dime of my money. Don't be fooled by the warm and fuzzy "Geneva Bank & Trust" naming either. It is just a subsidiary of the St. Charles bank that goes around naming the branches after whatever town they're located in so you think you're banking "locally".
