Here's a roundup of accidents collected from Geneva Police Department reports during the month of January. Accident at East Side Drive and Division Street—The front of a Toyota Prius driven by Linda Vasconi, 45, of Hubbard, OH, collided with the front of a Jeep Liberty driven by Maria Figeuiredo-Fatima, 55, of Geneva around 10:55 a.m. Jan. 14 at the intersection of East Side Drive and Division Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle and a tow was necessary after the crash. Vasconi was issued a warning notice for failure to yield at an intersection. Accident at Keslinger Road and Peck Road—The passenger side of a Ford Taurus driven by Lorenzo Formosa, 48, of Geneva collided with the front of a Dodge Caravan…

Here's a roundup of accidents from Geneva police reports collected during the past three weeks.  Accident with Injuries at Route 31 and Fargo Boulevard—The front of a Ford Taurus driven by Daniel Acton, 18, of Geneva collided with the front of a Saturn Outlook driven by Nyla Claussen, 43, of Montgomery around 5:10 p.m. Dec. 28 at the intersection of Route 31 and Fargo Boulevard, reports said. A passenger in the Outlook, Mary LaDew of Montgomery, was taken to Delnor Hospital by Medic 31 after complaining of neck pain, and the two drivers declined assistance. Here are three week's worth of traffic reports, collected from the files of the Geneva Police Department. Accident at Seventh and Campbell Streets—The front of a Toyota Camry driven by Esther Barclay-Steel, 51, of Geneva collided with the front of a Honda Civic driven by Shelby Gustillo, 21, of Batavia around 2:55 p.m. Dec. 8 at the intersection of Seventh Street and Campbell Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle and a tow was required after the crash, reports said. Barclay-Steel was issued a warning notice for making an improper left turn. Accident at Route 31 and Third Street—The front of a Toyota Camry driven by Kathryn Lacy, 48, of Geneva collided with the front of a Ford Fusion driven by Catherine …

Unusual Accidents: Distracted Driving, Collisions With Animals

Four of the five accidents collected this week in the Geneva Police Department files involved just one car. It was an unusual group that included distracted driving, collisions with animals and tickets for driving too fast for conditions. Here's the roundup: Accident on Peyton Street—The front of a Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Rachel Staples, 17, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado parked and unattended around 6:50 p.m. Nov. 18 in the 300 block of Peyton Street about 50 feet east of North Fourth Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Reports said Staples was looking down at her radio and did not see the parked vehicle as she made a right turn onto eastbound Peyton Street. Here's a list of accidents collected from Geneva Police Department files.   Accident at Keslinger and Peck Road—The passenger side of a Ford Explorer driven by Brenda Meisinger, 56, of Geneva collided with the front of a Chevrolet Caprice driven by Matthew Drury, 20, of Geneva around 5:20 p.m. Nov. 6 at the intersection of Keslinger Road and Peck Road, reports said. Meisinger was transported to Delnor Hospital by Medic 251, and Drury refused treatment. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one person’s vehicle. Meisinger was charged with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and has a court date of Dec. 18. She also was issued a warning notice for failure to yield turning left. Third Street Pedestrian Signs Confused Driver in Tuesday's Unusual 3-Car Crash

An Elgin driver's confusion over pedestrian-crossing signs on South Third Street contributed to Tuesday's three-car accident that pushed one vehicle onto the sidewalk next to the Geneva Post Office, Geneva police reports indicate. Three drivers refused treatment following the accident that took place around 10:43 a.m. Nov. 13 at the intersection of James Street and South Third Street, reports said. According to reports, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Samsam Turkman, 65, of Elgin was travelling east on James Street and stopped at the stop sign at South Third Street as a Hyundai Sonata driven by Violeta Flores, 77, was travelling north on Third Street. I asked someone years ago what it would take to try to get the bike lane/routes similar to that of South Street by the PW bldg. and I was told, just for striping it was a crazy number. But yes, moving away from corners is a huge must. Especially, if you have a giant SUV OVER the line.   more ›

One-Car Accident, Man Falls Asleep At Wheel—The front of a Chevrolet Malubu driven by Donald Murray, 67, of Geneva hit a traffic signal in a median on Crissey Avenue around 4:20 a.m. Sept. 29, reports said. Murray was driving north on Crissey Avenue near South Bennett Street when he fell asleep and his car struck the median and traffic sign. He awoke and parked the Malibu on Crissey Avenue about a block north of the crash. The report indicates an “injury or tow” resulted from the crash.
