Letter to the Editor: Burns Condemns Lauzen Use of Misinformation in Campaign

Kevin Burns: Chris Lauzen's Code of Conduct should include fair and accurate information.

To the Editor: Only a few short weeks into this campaign and despite his ostensible “code of conduct,” my opponent, Chris Lauzen, has already deployed intentionally misleading information to confuse and misinform the voters about my record as mayor of the city of Geneva. On Oct. 27, 2011, Mr. Lauzen released a statement, to wit: “I rejoice that my opponent has found 'fiscal religion' because that just hasn’t been his clear record for 11 years as mayor of Geneva." (See attached "Chart B: 46% Increase in Property Tax Levy Over Past 11 Years.") The referenced “Chart B” is an egregious and deliberate mischaracterization of my track record as a fiscally conservative and responsible mayor. I'm a little late to this party, but Matt, I recommend you stick to fighting with Karen rather than making nonsensical analogies. How many people have you seen strike out from the warm up circle?
