Randall Road retail thefts collected this week from Batavia and Geneva police departments include an arrest and a lead that includes a photo of the suspected offender. Retail Theft at Kohl's Batavia police arrested Jamie L. Hummel, 21 of Batavia on charges of retail theft from Kohl’s, 251 N. Randall Road, according to a report filed around 6:34 p.m. May 10. Hummel was observed taking an item of clothing, two cosmetics and two perfumes valued at $148 and left without paying for the merchandise, reports said. Batavia blotter includes property damage to churches and one unusual case in which the force of hurled liquid from a speeding car breaks a driver's-side mirror.
It sounds like a harmless prank, but apparently, throwing liquid out a speeding car can cause more than a little bit of damage—and could cause a much-more serious accident. A group of teenagers in a silver, four-door vehicle threw a cup of red liquid out the window and broke the driver’s-side mirror of another vehicle at Hart Road and Wind Energy Pass in Batavia, according to a report filed at 6:05 p.m. April 11, Batavia police reports said. The estimated cost to replace the mirror is $150, and the report did not indicate any persons were hurt. Three Batavia High School students were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia March 22, Batavia police reports indicate. Batavia school officials learned about the drug paraphernalia and contacted Batavia High School police liaison officer Chris Potthoff, who cited the students at around 12:42 p.m. at the school, 1201 Main St. Because the students are juveniles and the incident was a first offense, the students are being cited under city ordinance rather than prosecuted in courts, Batavia Detective Sgt. Traffic stops in Batavia resulted in several arrests for cannabis possession, driving under the influence and violations of the Controlled Substances Act. Traffic Arrest, Controlled Substance, DUI—Nicholas R. Neubauer, 29, of Batavia was cited for improper lane usage, driving without lights when required, possession of a controlled substance and DUI after a traffic stop at around 2:12 a.m. March 29 at 336 E. Wilson St., reports said. Neubauer was unable to post bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail for bond call. A passenger, Bradley J. The suspect gets $84 change but doesn't come back for the pizza.
Batavia police reports included a curious incident regarding a possible counterfeit bill. Batavia police reported to Rosati’s Pizza, 334 E. Wilson St., after a subject who ordered a pizza paid with a $100 bill and was given $84 back in change. The subject never returned to pick up the pizza, and “it was suspected the bill was counterfeit,” reports said. The bill was entered into custody.

The woman's car veered off the road, crashed through a fence and struck a utility pole, according to police.
The Batavia woman that went to the hospital after a one-car crash earlier this month on Main Street received a citation in the incident, police said. The 34-year-old woman was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a Batavia police crash report. The incident occurred at 11:27 a.m. Feb. 10 on the 1300 block of Main Street. Conditions were wet and icy on the roadway when the woman lost control of her crossover sport-utility vehicle. She struck a city street sign pole with signs, a fence on Mooseheart property and a wooden ComEd electric utility pole, the report said. The woman's vehicle rolled over and came to stop on its roof. Batavia residents were shocked to hear of Sunday's stabbing incident on the city's west side. Word traveled fast across social media and the Internet once police announced that they found two men with multiple stab wounds in a home early Sunday morning on the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue. No charges were announced Sunday afternoon and no further information was released for the day. Batavia police reports include two unusual cases of underage drinking, including a reported runaway and an attempted break-in to a bar.
Reports of a runaway 13-year-old girl in Batavia caused concerns for many adults Friday, but the girl was found unharmed. According to Batavia police reports, an officer responded to a home on Batavia's east side at 11:28 p.m. Sept. 7 for a report of runaway 13-year-old girl. The girl returned home while the officer was there. She was visibly intoxicated, according to reports. On that Sept. 8 in Batavia, a 16-year-old Batavia boy was observed at 12:38 a.m. attempting to gain access to a bar downtown. The boy was intoxicated, according to a police report. He was taken into custody, transported to the Police Department, processed and released to his father. The family in each of the incidents above received a referral to Victims Services. …

A Forest Park car driver on Thursday sideswiped a Geneva motorcycle driver near downtown Batavia, according to police. Here are more details on what happened.
A 26-year-old Forest Park woman received a citation on Thursday after a car vs. motorcycle crash in Batavia that injured a Geneva man, police said. Esther Reisinger was cited for improper lane usage in connection to the crash, according to a Batavia Police report. The incident occurred at 7 p.m. at the intersection of North Batavia Avenue (Route 31) and McKee Street. Reisinger's 2010 blue Mazda 3 sideswiped the 48-year-old Geneva man's motorcycle, according to a crash report. The man was ejected from his cycle and sustained injuries. He was transported to Delnor Hospital's emergency room. The Geneva driver's 1989 maroon Honda Goldwing motorcycle had to be towed from the scene.
