A bank on Batavia's east side was robbed at gunpoint Saturday morning, police said. The robbery occurred at the Old Second National Bank on the 1000 block of East Wilson Street. Officers reported to the scene at 10:08 a.m., according to a Batavia police news release. "The offender displayed a black semi-automatic handgun," the release said. "An unknown amount of currency was taken. No injuries were reported." The offender left the area possibly in a white or light-colored, smaller four-door sedan, police said. Police in nearby West Chicago are searching for a man who on Tuesday morning robbed a local bank and may be connected to an Aug. 9 bank heist in Bloomingdale. The robbery occurred shortly before 10:35 a.m. at Fifth Third Bank, 1800 N. Neltnor Boulevard, according to a release from the West Chicago Police Department. Officers who arrived at the bank learned a male had entered the bank and passed a teller a note demanding money. The robber left the bank and last was seen walking east toward Route 59 with an undisclosed sum of money. The robber is described as a male white, about 25 to 35 years old, between 6 feet and 6 feet, 3 inches tall with a muscular build, the release states. FBI officials suspect that a 22-year-old Glen Ellyn man arrested for an Elgin bank robbery might also be the man who held up the First State Bank of Geneva on Dec. 5. The St. Charles Police Department arrested Dane R. Phenegar on Dec. 22, when they witnessed Phenegar visiting with another alleged criminal, Nicholas D. Seidel, 30, of Elgin. Phenegar fled on foot before being caught, according to St. Charles TribLocal. Seidel was arrested for possessing a stolen car and forgery in connection with a series of crimes. The Geneva Police Department has released a photo of the man suspected of robbing First State Bank on Monday afternoon and are requesting help from anyone who might know him or know about his whereabouts. According to previous reports, a 20- to 30-year-old black male entered the First State Bank, 323 W. State St., Geneva, around 4:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, implied he had a weapon and demanded money from employees. Police would not say at this time how much money was taken. Geneva police are investigating the armed robbery of the First State Bank early Monday evening. A man entered the bank, which is located at 323 W. State St., at about 4:45 p.m. Monday and implied to an employee that he had a gun, according to police. He then demanded money and fled. St. Charles police are searching for a man suspected in a Tuesday morning bank robbery. At 11:58 a.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at the TCF Bank inside the Jewel Osco at 2073 Prairie St. According to police, the suspect ran away with an undisclosed amount of money. Police from both St. Charles and Geneva departments, as well as the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, searched but were unable to find the man.
