Students and faculty at Geneva High School organize a fundraising game night to raise critical funds and cancer awareness during the home game against Metea Valley High School on Friday, Oct. 12, for breast cancer prevention and early detection.
As the nation marks the annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, the American Cancer Society is partnering with the National Football League and high school football teams nationwide for a breast cancer awareness initiative called “A Crucial Catch: Annual Screening Saves Lives.” Joining other coaches from around the state, students and faculty at Geneva High School have organized a fundraising game night to raise critical funds and cancer awareness during the home game against Metea Valley High School on Friday, Oct. 12, for breast cancer prevention and early detection. More than 1,000 cancer survivors, caregivers and friends attended the annual Kane County Relay for Life event on June 22-23 at Fifth Third Bank ballpark in Geneva. Geneva resident Doogie Mayberry was honorary chair. In addition to Kane County, walks were held in Kendall and DeKalb counties overnight Friday and early Saturday to benefit the American Cancer Society and LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva. A ceremonial check for $40,101.16 was presented by the St. Charles North and East high school drill teams. The goal of the event was $315,000. —Photos and article courtesy of Al Benson

A proceeds of the sales today at She She in downtown Geneva will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Today–a column for women, and also the people who love them. An estimated 80 percent of we women are walking around wearing the wrong size bra. And today, Tuesday, women can remedy that issue—and help generate contributions to the American Cancer Society. She She, at 17 S. Third St., is holding one of its days when women may be fitted for a correctly sized bra. (The store, which sells lingerie, as well as pajamas and all kinds of fun items, including greeting cards, funny T-shirts, candles and perfumes, typically does three of these a year.)
