The Kane County Health Department will still continue to look for a source of the salmonella, a spokesman said.
Aliano’s Ristorante in Batavia has passed all county health department tests, and is open for business as of Thursday afternoon, officials said. The restaurant opened 10 p.m. Thursday with a full menu, a hostess confirmed. The restaurant's neon window signs are lit and the message about the closure was taken down. "Not one shred of evidence was found to be a problem in our restaurant or with our employees," the restaurant announced Thursday afternoon on the official Aliano's Facebook page. The reported cases of salmonella possibly tied to Aliano's did not involve the same group of people, and they were not reported on the same day, the Kane County Health Department said Wednesday. The six salmonella cases initially linked to Aliano's Ristorante, 90 N. Island Ave., in Batavia were reported separately throughout the week of Sept. 10-14, said Tom Schlueter, County Health Department spokesman. "They were reported through doctors," he told Batavia Patch of the cases. The doctors saw symptoms of, or identified the salmonella illness, in some of their patients. A popular downtown Batavia restaurant remained closed Tuesday while the Kane County Health Department investigated recent cases of salmonella. Aliano's Ristorante, 90 N. Island Ave., has been closed since Friday, said Kane County Health Department spokesman Tom Schlueter. The restaurant is fully cooperating with the investigation and closed their doors voluntarily. Six people tested positive for salmonella, and they all reported eating at Aliano's.
